King Charles III shared an intimate moment and a frank admission with the UK’s new Prime Minister on Thursday.
King Charles III shared an intimate moment with the UK’s new Prime Minister following the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday.
Prime Minister Truss visited Buckingham Palace on Friday to meet with the second monarch of her term, with The King making a heartbreaking admission to the new PM.
“Your Majesty, very good to see you,” said the Prime Minister as she entered the room where Charles was waiting.
“You’re very kind to come in, I know how particularly busy you are,” The King said while shaking the newly appointment Prime Minister’s hand during the audience.
The King told the PM: “It’s been so touching this afternoon when we arrived here, all these people had come to give their condolences, put flowers.”
"The moment I've been dreading. Try and keep going."

“Your Majesty, my very very sincere condolences,” said the PM.
“You’re very kind,” King Charles III replied.
The King then continues to tell the Prime Minister his mother’s death was “the moment he’d been dreading.”
“It’s the moment I’ve been dreading, as I know a lot of people have, but you try and keep everything going,” The King said through a smile.
The new British head of state then proceeded to invite Prime Minister Truss to sit down with him.
The PM was among the first to pay respects to the Royal Family on Thursday, saying “we’re all devastated by the news we have just heard from Balmoral.”
“The death of Her Majesty The Queen is a huge shock to the nation and to the world,” said Ms Truss.
“Queen Elizabeth II was a rock on which modern Britain was built. Our country has grown and flourished under her reign.
“Britain is the great country it is today because of her.”
Prime Minister Truss met Queen Elizabeth II just two days prior to her death before being sworn in as the country’s new PM.
Her Majesty met Ms Truss at her Balmoral estate in Scotland because of concerns she would have been uncomfortable making the trip down to Buckingham Palace.
The Queen had not been seen in public since late July, when she passed through Aberdeen Airport on her way to Balmoral.
Her mobility issues seemed evident as she met Ms Truss, using her trusty cane to help as she stood up to shake hands with the new PM.
She also appeared to have a bruise on her right hand.
The 96-year-old sovereign also appeared to be slightly hunched over as she met Ms Truss, 47.
The difference in her posture was noticeable when compared to the official photos of the last two times she met new Prime Ministers.
