King Charles ‘hellbent’ on Prince Harry attending coronation

Despite their relationship being at an all-time low amid a shock eviction, the King is reportedly desperate for his son to attend the historic royal event.

King Charles is “hellbent” on Prince Harry attending his coronation in May, according to a new report.

After months of speculation, it’s now been confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have received invitations for the royal event, which will see King Charles and his wife Queen Consort Camilla crowned during a three-day “pomp and ceremony” extravaganza.

Whether or not they will actually attend is still up in the air – and given the latest development regarding their eviction by Charles from Frogmore Cottage, it’s certainly under a heavy cloud of doubt.

However, despite all the recent hostilities, The Daily Telegraph reports that the new King is “hellbent” on his son attending the historic royal event on May 6.

“The King has not turned his back on his son, he loves him desperately, despite the difficulties the past few years in their relationship, but he is hellbent on inviting his son to the coronation and wants him there on the day he is crowned and has said the family can stay at Buckingham Palace,” royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said.

According to the Daily Mail, Charles has offered the couple a room to stay at Buckingham Palace if they show up, which would help alleviate their concerns around security in the UK.

Harry and Meghan have so far given no indication either way of whether they’ll attend – with an added complication being that the actual coronation falls on the same day as their son Archie’s fourth birthday.

A spokesman for the Sussexes confirmed on Sunday that Harry and Meghan had been invited to the event, telling the UK Times: “I can confirm the Duke has recently received email correspondence from His Majesty’s office regarding the coronation.

“An immediate decision on whether the Duke and Duchess will attend will not be disclosed by us at this time.”

The coronation invitation comes after sources close to the couple revealed they were “stunned” by Charles’ decision to evict them – and had the support of “at last two members of the royal family” who were “appalled” by the move.

“Harry and Meghan have until early summer to vacate,” a source told Finding Freedom author Omid Scobie in an article for Yahoo7 News. “Initially, they were given just weeks, but now they have at least until after the coronation.”

Scobie claimed that the King was “spitting mad” after Harry’s memoir, Spare, hit bookshelves, and communication between the Duke and his family has now hit its “lowest” point yet.

“It all feels very final and like a cruel punishment,” a friend of the couple told the outlet. “It’s like [the family] wants to cut them out of the picture for good.”

Frogmore Cottage was initially gifted to Harry and Meghan as a wedding gift from the Queen, but following extensive renovations, they ultimately lived in it for less than a year before announcing they were quitting royal duties and moving overseas.

Shortly after the news broke, it was also reported that Charles suggested that his brother, the disgraced Prince Andrew, move into Frogmore Cottage instead.

However, The Sun reports that he is so far “resisting” the offer to downgrade from his nearby Royal Lodge mansion.
