King Charles ‘has lost sight of the plot’ of coronation
King Charles has been blasted after he pulled a surprise move, featuring Harry and Meghan in an official coronation souvenir.
King Charles has been slammed after he included a picture of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the coronation program despite a family rift.
This week, the Sussexes were featured in one of the photos used in the official coronation souvenir program.
The candid snap, which was taken in 2018 during His Majesty’s 70th birthday celebration at Clarence Gardens, shows the entire royal family smiling and laughing while posing for their portrait.
In the portrait, Queen Camilla and King Charles, 74, sat next to one another on a bench with grandkids Prince George, 9, and Princess Charlotte, 7, on either side of them.
Kate, Princess of Wales, 41, stood in the back holding then-baby Prince Louis, now 4, as her husband Prince William, 40, stood beside her, right next to hisnow-estranged brother and his wife.
Speaking on the UK TV program Dan Wootton Tonight, royal biographer Tom Bower weighed in on the move, calling the monarch “dithering” over failing to take charge of his coronation amid the family squabbles.
The writer said that Charles seems to be distracted and is focusing on the wrong things ahead of the historic event next month.
“He’s losing sight of the plot,” he said.
“He’s losing sight that this Coronation should be all about the glory of the monarchy and about Britain and he is reducing it to squabbles about his family.
“Worse than that, this constant promoting of Camilla is distracting.
“The Coronation seems to be all about his marriage now and not about embracing his reign. He’s not establishing himself as the key to the future era.
“He’s just worried about whether people will love Camilla, and what they think about Harry and this recent olive branch. It’s just nonsense.”
Last week, the palace announced that Harry decided to attend his father’s coronation while Meghan would remain in the United States with their children.
The coronation ceremony falls on the same day as their son Archie’s birthday – and that ultimately became a factor in the outcome, according to Finding Freedom author and friend of Meghan, Omid Scobie.
Harry and Markle’s relationship with his family members have worsened since the pair stepped down as senior royals in 2020.
Harry’s upcoming trip to London will mark his first time visiting his family since he blasted them in the Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan, and his bombshell memoir, Spare.
In the explosive tell-all, the duke claimed Charles joked that he was not Harry’s biological father, detailed his physical fight with William and painted an unflattering picture of Camilla.
Now, his family members reportedly have “no interest” in interacting with Harry when they reunite on May 6.
