Kate Middleton’s children didn’t visit her in hospital, and now we know why
The Princess of Wales had a very touching reason for not being visited by her children.
Kate Middleton didn’t have her children visit her at hospital while she recovered from surgery, and now the real reason has been revealed.
The Princess of Wales was released from hospital on Monday, two weeks after the HRH underwent abdominal surgery.
According to reports, Kate chose not to have her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, visit her at the hospital while she recovered.
“I don’t think she wanted to make more of a big thing of it than it already was. They’ll be rallying round in their own way and helping to look after her,” royal biographer Ingrid Seward told PEOPLE.
Another source told Page Six that Kate and husband Prince William reportedly decided it was best to “shield” their children “to prevent worry”.
Instead, the princess stayed connected to her children via FaceTime, which she and William regularly do when they are away from the children on royal tours.
Also, according to reports, young children are generally not allowed to visit the London Clinic without permission from the hospital for the safety of the patients and to keep any uneccesary infections at a low.
Although Kate’s children didn’t stop by her hospital room, her father-in-law, King Charles, did pay her a visit last week. The monarch reportedly stopped by his daughter-in-law’s room shortly after he was admitted for his own surgery to treat an enlarged prostate, which all went according to plan.
Earlier this month, Kensington Palace revealed that Kate underwent a “successful” abdominal surgery and would be taking a break from public engagements until after Easter. Although they noted that Kate “appreciates the interest” in her health, they added “she hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.”
Meanwhile, the princess was last seen in public on December 25 when she and her husband, Prince William, took their three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, to a Christmas church service.
The beloved royal is expected to return to her royal duties around Easter following her recovery.
