Kate and William’s children ‘don’t need a childhood bond’ with Archie, says royal author

A royal expert claims the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s children are likely to form a relationship when they are older.

A royal author predicts Prince William and Kate’s children will develop a bond with their cousin Archie Mountbatten-Windsor later in life.

According to Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine and author of Prince Philip Revealed: A Man Of His Century, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis “don’t need a childhood bond” with Prince Harry and Meghan’s son and are likely to form a relationship when they are older.

She toldExpress.co.uk: “I am sure Diana would have wanted her sons’ offspring to be friends as she would have known how difficult it is to form friendships outside the family as people cannot be trusted not to let some indiscretion slip out.

“How cool to have a Californian cousin who is going to be such a dude as Archie.

“So they may not have the childhood bond, which they really don’t need as they have lots of little friends, but they will really appreciate Archie later on in their lives.”

The prediction comes after the brothers met for the first time following the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s interview with Oprah Winfrey. During the tell-all, the Duchess of Sussex claimed a member of the royal family had concerns over Archie’s skin colour and the Sussexes had been upset over Archie not being giving the title of prince.

Days after the interview, the Queen released a statement saying: “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.

“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.

“Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much-loved family members.”

Harry and Meghan moved their family to the US after stepping down as senior royals in 2020. The Prince had his titles stripped by the Queen this year.

The Duke of Sussex travelled to the U.K. to attend Prince Philip’s funeral last month He flew back to America, missing the Queen’s 95th birthday.

The royal brothers are expected to reunite when they unveil a statue in honour of their mother at Kensington Palace. The event will be held on July 1 and commemorate what would have been Princess Diana’s 60th birthday.
