How the world reacted to the birth of Prince Harry and Meghan’s son
Within seconds of his birth being announced the newborn royal bub has become the biggest story around the world and celebrities and politicians couldn’t wait to say congratulations.
The royal baby may be barely a day old but celebrities, actors and musicians have couldn’t wait to offer their congratulations to Prince Harry and wife Meghan after the birth of their first child.
Aussie politicians and their global counterparts have also shared congratulatory messages.
Meghan gave birth to a baby boy, weighing 7 lbs 3oz, at 5.26am (2.26pm AEST) on Monday with the Duke of Sussex present for the delivery.

The Duchess of Sussex moved in A-list circles during her time as a leading lady in the popular legal-drama Suits and had a star-studded baby shower in New York attended by celebrities such as Amal Clooney and Serena Williams.
Now, Twitter has been flooded with congratulations for the couple from all over the world including talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres, who convinced Meghan to adopt a dog when the pair met at a rescue shelter.
She tweeted her congratulations to the now family-of-three, finishing off with a joke.
“The baby is 7th in line for the throne, which is crazy, because right now I’m 7th in line for the key-making kiosk at my grocery store,” DeGeneres wrote.
The Duchess of Sussex’s former on-screen husband in Suits, Patrick Adams said he “learned first hand 7 months ago how transformational becoming a parent is and couldn’t be happier for the Meghan and Harry as they begin this adventure”.
World leaders including UK Prime Minster Theresa May, Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn and former-US First Lady Michelle Obama also offered their well wishes.
“Congratulations, Meghan and Harry! Barack and I are so thrilled for both of you and can’t wait to meet him,” Mrs Obama tweeted.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison kicked off day 27 of the federal election campaign with a message to the royal couple.
“Huge congratulations to Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, on the birth of their baby boy today. Becoming a parent is one of the greatest joys of life! #RoyalBaby,” the PM tweeted.
He also spoke about the birth on Triple M Melbourne radio this morning, saying it was “great that the wonderful day (had) come”.

Labor leader Bill Shorten also congratulated the “lovely couple”, saying: “Chloe and I are delighted for Harry and Meghan on the arrival of their baby boy. They are a lovely couple and will make wonderful parents.”

Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, also shared Meghan and Harry’s birth announcement, along with the caption, “Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the safe delivery of your baby boy!”
Meghan’s former Suits co-star, Sarah Rafferty, also took to social media to welcome Baby Sussex.

It wasn’t just celebs and royals tweeting congratulations; the royal baby was making headlines all over the world.
Within seconds of his birth being announced, the newborn became the biggest story of the day, making it onto home pages and front pages around the globe, according to The Sun.
And no more so than his mother’s home country of the USA where the news was greeted with joy.
The Sussex baby, now seventh in line to the throne, was born at 5.26am (2.26pm AEST) weighing at 7 lbs 3oz (3.26kg).
The baby’s sex was a surprise for the delighted couple, who chose not to find out what they were having.
A beaming Prince Harry said: “It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined.
“How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension. But we’re both absolutely thrilled.
“We’re both absolutely thrilled and so grateful for all the love and support from everybody out there, it’s been amazing, so we just wanted to share this with everybody.”
