How Queen will celebrate first birthday alone
Plans for Queen Elizabeth’s 95th birthday have been shelved as she mourns the loss of her husband Prince Philip.
Queen Elizabeth II faces her first birthday without her husband Prince Philip in 70 years.
The British royal will turn 95 this week and will be surrounded by a small number of staff at Windsor.
Plans for a new portrait of the monarch are set to be postponed as she is still in mourning over the loss of her husband.
The Daily Mail reports the sovereign is likely to spend her birthday driving herself to one of her favourite parts of the estate, Frogmore, to walk her new puppies, Fergus, a dorgi, and corgi Muick.
According to the Ministry of Defence, traditional gun salutes mark the special day in Hyde Park and at the Tower of London have been cancelled.

It is reported that the Prince Andrew, Prince Edward and his wife Sophie are likely to visit the Queen. She will receive calls from the Prince of Wales, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and others.
The Queen will return back to duty the following day. Aides are working on low key engagements from Windsor such as video calls.
Her first outside public engagement will be the state opening of Parliament on May 11 which she will attend with Prince Charles.
Last week, the Daily Mail reported senior members of the royal family will be by the monarch’s side for public events after her husband’s death.
The Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the Earl and Countess of Wessex and Princess Anne will be seen at her side.
Sources told the news site, the death of Prince Philip has left a “huge void” in the Queen’s life, and she will carry out as many commitments as possible once the two weeks of official mourning ends.
