Prince Harry has been feeling homesick and made repeated attempts to contact his father in recent weeks ahead of the coronation, according to a new report.

According to The Sun, prior to publicly confirming his attendance earlier this month, the Duke of Sussex was “desperate” to be at the coronation to publicly support King Charles III and had tried a number of times to get in touch with him.

However, Charles was reportedly “so busy” he only had time for one conversation before the RSVP announcement went out.

“Harry was desperate to come back for the coronation and spend quality time with his family,” a source told The Sun.

The publication added that Harry’s initial efforts to reach out to his father came in the wake of his memoir Spare’s release in January, in which he criticised his family – especially his stepmother, Queen Consort Camilla.

It’s understood that it was that attack which was seen as a “red line” for Charles, and possibly a factor in his reluctance to answer the phone to his estranged son.

However, despite his explosive accusations, Harry has also publicly claimed he wants his brother and father “back”.

As he told ITV’s Tom Bradby earlier this year: “I want a family, not an institution.”

The latest development comes just over a week after The Sun revealed details of Harry’s private phone call with his father, which came off the back of news he would be attending next month’s coronation alone.

Meghan Markle will stay at their home in California with their two children, Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1.

It’s set to be an awkward family reunion for Harry, with his concerns of a frosty reunion reportedly set to play out exactly as he’d feared.

Royal sources told the Daily Mail recently that Harry will be receiving the cold shoulder from most of his family members when he turns up at Westminster Abbey, as they have “no interest” in talking to him beyond “the most basic of greetings”.

The publication also reports that while William would “never have stopped” Harry from attending their father’s big day, he has “no plans to speak to him”.

Despite all the recent tension, The Sun reports that Charles is “happy” with his son’s decision to attend and “understanding” of Meghan’s choice to stay behind with their kids.
