Genoveva Casanova breaks silence after King Frederik’s coronation

Genoveva Casanova, the woman at the centre of affair rumours that rocked Mary and Frederik’s marriage, has broken her silence.

Genoveva Casanova has shared her first social media post since King Frederik X ascended the throne, amid rumours the pair had an affair.

The Mexican socialite, 47, has significantly cut back on her Instagram activity since issuing a sensational statement denying the “malicious” claims.

She has posted just once since the scandal broke last year — a heartfelt message to a mother figure who had died.

But Ms Casanova shared an Instagram Story on Tuesday, two days after Frederik ascended the throne.

She shared a video posted by Spanish singer and actor Miguel Bose about child slaves in Africa.

The original post by Bose read: “40,000 slave children in Congo are forced to work in cobalt mines so we can drive electric cars:”.

Ms Casanova was forced to address rumours of an extramarital affair late last year after being spotted with Frederik, who was then crown prince, in Madrid, where she lives.

Spanish magazine Lecturas shared pictures of the pair attending a Pablo Picasso exhibit together and claimed to have a timeline of their evening, which allegedly included a late dinner together before they went to Ms Casanova’s apartment.

Ms Casanova categorically denied the claims of a romantic relationship.

“I categorically deny the statements that suggest a romantic relationship between Prince Frederik and me,” she told the outlet.

“Any statement of this type not only completely lacks the truth but also misrepresents the facts in a malicious manner. This is already in the hands of my lawyers, who will take care of the pertinent steps to protect my right to honour, truth and privacy.”

Frederik was crowned on Sunday, two weeks after his mother abdicated.

The newly proclaimed king was visibly overcome with emotion while he delivered a speech from the balcony.

“My hope is to become a unifying king of tomorrow,” he said.

“It’s a task I’ve approached all my life. It’s a task I’ve taken on with pride, respect and joy.”

Queen Consort Mary smiled while holding her husband’s hand and then delighted the crowd by giving him a kiss.
