‘Fab four’ make first working appearance at Royal Foundation Forum

PRINCE Harry has let slip what it’s really like inside the royal “fab four” as he, Meghan, William and Kate made their first public appearance since Christmas.

Meghan wows the crowd on 2nd royal visit

MEGHAN Markle has made her first working appearance alongside Prince Harry and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as her husband-to-be joked they are “stuck together for the rest of their lives.”

The appearance at the Royal Foundation Forum in London is the first working engagement for the two couples and the first time they have been spotted together in public since the Christmas Day church service in Norfolk.

Ms Markle blushed as she received a huge cheer from the crowd when Prince William noted her addition to the Foundation established by the two princes as a way of distinguishing their work from the rest of their families.

Prince Harry dispelled the myth it’s happy families all the time saying they have “four different personalities and we all have that same passion to make a difference.”

“We have different opinions and they work really well [together]. Working as family does have its challenges; of course it does. The fact that everybody is laughing shows they know “exactly” what’s it like. But we are stuck together for the rest of our lives.”

The foursome appeared happy and relaxed on stage as Kate showed her bump for the third royal baby due in April. Ms Markle spoke about how she wants to use her profile to “shine a light on women” following the Me Too and Time’s Up movements.

“So, yeah ... I guess we wait a couple of months and we can hit the ground running,” she said, prompting Prince Harry to mention the word “wedding”.

“We can multi-task,” she joked.

“For me it is very important to want to hit the ground running even if you are doing it quietly behind the scenes, which is what I have focused my energy on thus far — meeting with the right people and the right organisations ... learning as much as I can so that I can maximise the opportunity we have here to really make an impact.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry spoke at the event which highlighted the achievements of the Foundation that works on a range of projects including United for Wildlife, the Invictus Games, Heads Together, the Cyberbullying Taskforce, the Endeavour Fund, and Full Effect.

“We are particularly happy to be at our first Royal Foundation event with Meghan. Today is a special day for us,” Prince William said to cheers from the crowd.

“Ten years ago Harry and I were still serving full-time in the military, but we were starting to look to the next stages of our lives.

“Both our parents had provided for us an example of diligence, compassion and duty in all they did. Our grandparents, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, had made support for charity central to their decades of service to the nation and the Commonwealth.

Prince Harry said he was “personally incredibly proud and excited that my soon-to-be wife, who is equally passionate about seeing positive change in the world, will soon be joining us with this work.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will marry on May 19 in a ceremony at Windsor Castle.
