Diana’s brother Charles Spencer’s new girlfriend files lawsuit against his estranged wife
Charles Spencer’s new girlfriend has filed a shock lawsuit against his estranged wife, accusing her of leaking intimate secrets.
IN LONDON
Princess Diana’s brother has been caught up in a messy legal battle after his new girlfriend filed a lawsuit against his estranged wife, accusing her of allegedly revealing intimate secrets about her.
Archaeologist Catrine Jarman, 42, claims Countess Spencer caused her “distress, upset and embarrassment” when she shared personal, private details about her to a number of people.
Earl Spencer, 60, went public with his new relationship in October, following the announcement of his split from third wife Karen Spencer, 52, in March, after 13 years of marriage.
The two women are now headed for a dramatic High Court showdown, according to The Sun.

The alleged leaking of Dr Jarman’s personal secrets occurred in May, she claims.
“Dr Jarman was unaware until around mid-May that the Countess had even obtained the private information,” it’s stated in the court documents, according to The Sun.
“She only found out after the Countess had disclosed the information to Earl Spencer — the revelation of which was shocking to her.
“Dr Jarman did not, at any time, provide her consent to the Countess to disclose that information to any third party or intimate anything to that effect.
“This lack of consent should have been obvious to the Countess given the nature of the private information and the circumstances in which it was imparted.”
She accused the Countess of telling a “close group of personal friends”.
The list of those told her intimate details allegedly includes teachers and parents at the prestigious Spratton Hall school and even Lady Spencer’s personal trainer.
“It has caused her to suffer a great deal of damage, including distress, upset and embarrassment, for which the Countess is liable.”
Dr Jarman is reportedly seeking damages and an injunction preventing the Earl’s extranged wife from passing the information on to anyone else.
The Norwegian professor, who was named Nordic Person of the Year 2024 in Scandanavia, met Diana’s brother Charles during a dig to try and find a lost medieval village at his stunning ancestral home, Althorp estate in Northamptonshire.

The Earl opened up about their relationship to the UK’s Telegraph recently, gushing over his new partner’s ability to bring out his true self.
“I’m too old for hearts and flowers stuff, but the best way to describe it is that with Cat, I can be myself,” he said.
“She knows who I am. Who I really am. I don’t have to pretend to be something I am not. And she brings out the best in me.”
The couple even host a history podcast together: The Rabbit Hole Detectives.
Describing herself as a “nerd”, Dr Jarman told the Telegraph that she’d been excited to try and uncover the lost village at Althorp, but she was not aware of who her future boyfriend was when they first crossed paths.
“I grew up in Norway, where we don’t really have a class system, and there isn’t really any interest in all that,” she said.
“I’m a nerd. I’d heard of Althorp, and was excited about the lost village. When a TV producer phoned me up and asked if I would be interested, I said yes. But to be completely honest, I didn’t know who Charles was. He sort of tagged along.”
The pair added that they started off as friends, brought together through “shared interests”, but that it developed into romance.
“We were fascinated by the same things,” Charles said. “And she made me laugh. Laughter was key.”
