Charles ‘personally called Harry to tell him Camilla will become Queen’
The Prince of Wales called his son to tell him that Camilla will become Queen, in a rare conversation following their reported rift.
Prince Charles personally called Harry to tell him that Camilla will become Queen in a rare conversation following their rift, it is understood.
The Prince of Wales reportedly spoke to both his sons personally, prior to the 95-year-old monarch’s announcement on Saturday, The Sun reports.
The Queen said it is her “sincere wish” that the Duchess of Cornwall will be known as Queen Consort in an address marking her Accession Day.

The Duke of Cambridge was consulted prior to the announcement, with a source revealing: “William was fine with it.”
And insiders have claimed Harry also had a conversation with his dad prior to the Queen’s statement, the Daily Mail reports.
The conversation comes after fears of a rift between the Duke of Sussex and his father after Harry quit the royal family and moved to the US with wife Meghan Markle.
The Duke was said to have “barely spoken” with his father last year, as their relationship plummeted to “an all time low” after Harry claimed in an explosive interview with Oprah that his dad had cut him off.
Months later, he said his family had shown “total neglect” for his mental health.
It has also been claimed Harry had triggered a “tsunami of fear” in Buckingham Palace when he revealed he would be releasing an autobiography.
But it’s now claimed the father and son have been on a “journey of rediscovery” and are mending their relationship, with Charles inviting Harry and Meghan to stay with him when they’re next in the UK.
The Duke of Sussex is understood to have been enjoying video calls with his dad over the past few weeks.
Royal sources have said it is the Queen’s wish for Camilla to be known as Queen Consort in recognition for her hard work and the happiness she has brought her son.
In a statement to mark her accession, the Queen told the nation: “I remain eternally grateful for, and humbled by, the loyalty and affection that you continue to give me.
“And when, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me.
“And it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service.”
In a moving addition, she signed the address to British people: “Your servant, Elizabeth R.”
When Camilla and Charles married in a civil ceremony in 2005, it was said she would be known as Princess Consort when Charles eventually took the throne.
This honour now is a major U-turn on that.
At the time of their nuptials, royal officials believed there was too much public animosity towards Camilla – married to Andrew Parker Bowles from 1973–1995 – following the death of Diana.
Charles and Camilla said they were “touched and honoured” by the Queen’s gesture, while the Prince of Wales paid tribute to his “darling wife” and said he was “deeply conscious of the honour”.
