Meghan and Harry have a baby boy: Inside the life of Baby Sussex

A beaming Prince Harry today stepped out to announce his wife Meghan Markle had given birth to the couple’s first child, prompting an outpouring of congratulatory messages from around the globe.

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, gave birth to a healthy baby boy in England, early Monday morning local time.

The baby weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces at birth and was born at 5.26am (local time).

“It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined,” Prince Harry said of watching their son being born.

“How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension... I’m so incredibly proud of my wife.”

Harry said he was ecstatic about the birth of their first child and promised that more details — such as the baby’s name — will be shared in the coming days.

“This little baby is absolutely to die for,” he said. “I’m just over the moon.”

Charles Spencer — brother of Diana, Princess of Wales and uncle to Harry — tweeted his congratulations.

He wrote: “Really very lovely news today — many, many, congratulations!”

Ryan Seacrest was among the first celebrities to share his thoughts on the birth of the royal baby saying: “It’s a boy! Congrats to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. The royal baby is 7th in line to the British throne...and the latest entry in the race for the iron throne,” he wrote referencing the successful TV series “Game of Thrones”.

“Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the birth of their baby boy. May God bless the new family with love, health and happiness. #RoyalBaby,” the Archbishop of Canterbury tweeted.

Soon after, the royal family, including Prince William and Kate Middleton, released a statement congratulating the couple on the birth.

“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer have been informed and are delighted with the news,” it read.

“The Duchess’ mother, Doria Ragland, who is overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild, is with Their Royal Highnesses at Frogmore Cottage.”

Princess Eugenie’s father, Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, also shared Meghan and Harry’s birth announcement, along with the caption, “Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the safe delivery of your baby boy!”

Speaking to The Sun , Meghan’s estranged father, Thomas Markle, congratulated the new parents and spoke of his pride at the birth.

“I’m delighted to hear that mother and child are doing well,” he wrote in a statement.

“I am proud that my new grandson is born into the British royal family and I am sure that he will grow up to serve the crown and the people of Britain with grace, dignity, and honour.

“GOD bless the child and I wish him health and happiness, and my congratulations to my lovely daughter Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry, and GOD save the Queen.”

Meghan’s estranged half-sister Samantha Markle has yet to comment publicly on the birth.

Some of Meghan’s former Suits co-stars, including Sarah Rafferty, also took to social media to welcome the arrival of royal baby Sussex.

The woman Meghan once called one of her “favourite estheticians” and who Kate Moss and Gisele Bündchen visit for an all-natural facelift, Nichola Joss, expressed her support online as well. A string of politicians also jumped on the bandwagon.

Fans of the royal family were quick to follow.

“awwwww! Their little awesome threesome Family is all that matters from this point forward. Congrats you two, enjoy your new ‘Sonshine,’” one user wrote.

“Is it just me or was Meghan Markle pregnant for like FIVE YEARS?! But ALAS- another royal baby has arrived, here here,” another excited fan noted.

“#MeghanMarkle and #PrinceHarry had a baby boy!!! Idk why I’m super excited about this but it’s safe to say at least half the world is 💛,” someone else said.

“Congratulations to Prince Harry & Meghan Markle! Thrilled to welcome your baby boy to the world,” another user noted.

The infant is seventh in line to the British throne and Queen Elizabeth II’s eighth great-grandchild. Harry is the younger son of Prince Charles, heir to the throne, and the late Princess Diana, who died in a Paris car crash in 1997.
