The Royal Family is said to have administered a “brutal reality check” to the Sussexes just as they were expanding their brand overseas.

Buckingham Palace has been accused of serving Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with a “brutal reality check,” according to a royal expert.

Harry was quietly stripped of “His Royal Highness” from his profile page this week shortly after UK newspaper The Express pointed out the “major blunder” on their site.

Royal expert Richard Kay labelled the move “brutal,” adding that it was “no coincidence” that the Duke of Sussex’s Japan trip lined up with the update, reported the New York Post.

“For it was surely no coincidence that the Prince’s arrival in the Far East coincided with the brutal reality check administered by Buckingham Palace about his status — and that of his wife, Meghan — in the new‑look Royal Family,” Kay wrote for the Daily Mail.

Kay added that sources close to the monarch claim the royals are furious at “sustained” attacks from the Sussexes.

“A visceral bitterness persists at the sustained attacks that Harry and Meghan have waged against family members through his memoir and their various television interviews,” he wrote.

“In such a highly charged atmosphere, there was resentment that elements of the Duke and Duchess’s previous lives were allowed to remain unaltered, as though they were still somehow part of ‘the Firm.’

“One reason there was no push for a change was because the late Queen Elizabeth wanted to ensure that anything her grandson might interpret as a snub or the slamming of a royal door was avoided,” Kay added.

The couple’s names were also moved toward the bottom of the family’s main page — beneath working members of the Firm but right above disgraced Prince Andrew.

Prior to the update, Harry had been referred to as “HRH” twice.

The decision was followed by a move to Canada, before they ultimately settled down in star-studded Montecito, California, north of Los Angeles.

Despite that, royal author Robert Jobson recently said that King Charles will not be stripping Harry and Meghan of their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles as a special gift from the late Queen Elizabeth II.
