Author claims he’s traced Prince Charles’ money and ‘it’s going to get worse’

A royal biographer has claimed he’s traced Prince Charles’ money and it’s not the first time the future king has been caught accepting cash from controversial figures.

Prince Charles’ donation scandals are causing the royals ‘so much damage’

A royal biographer claims he’s traced donations made to Prince Charles - and “it’s going to get worse” for the heir to the throne.

Over the weekend, news broke that the Prince of Wales accepted £1 million ($A1.7 million) from Osama bin Laden’s family.

According to the Sunday Times, the future king took the cash from the half-brothers of the slain al-Qaeda leader and it was eventually deposited into his charity the Prince of Wales’s Charitable Foundation (PWCF).

During Tuesday’s episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored, available to stream on Flash, British author Tom Bower shared his thoughts on the bombshell story.

“It looks very bad. It’s not the first time he’s been caught out,” the writer said on the program.

“As I wrote in my book four years ago, he was selling access to himself for large sums of money for many, many years for more than 20 years.

“He was warned by his own father to stop it and he didn’t.”

Bower alleges the monarch was attracting colourful and controversial figures.

“They were people who he shouldn’t have been with, less than taking money from them,” he said.

“And I just fear that this is one more nail in his coffin that says we’ve been very, very dramatic, because it’s gonna get worse in my view.

“More and more of these stories of him taking money in suspicious circumstances are going to emerge.”

When asked where he got his information from, Bower responded that he traced the prince’s money back to the late 1990s.

Bower is not the only commentator to remark on Charles’ donation scandal.

On Tuesday, British broadcaster Nigel Farage weighed in on the story and blasted the royal.

“I’ll tell you what, there are many people Charles could raise money from but to go to the Bin Laden family begs the question, how can somebody who is supposedly intelligent be that damn stupid?,” he told Sky News’ Paul Murray Live.

“All of this of course, on the back, you remember the story just a couple of months ago, of the million euros that he was given in a suitcase in 500 euro notes, the guy clearly has no judgement at all.

“In this case, it’s even worse because the press reports that have not been denied, are that those around him said to Charles, for goodness sake do not take money from the Bin Ladens and in a boneheaded and stupid way he proceeded.

“He’s just month after month doing the royal family so much damage.”

Sir Ian Cheshire, the chairman of the Prince of Wales Charitable Fund, told the Sunday Times that the donation was agreed to “wholly” by the organisation’s five trustees.

“The donation from Sheik Bakr Bin Laden in 2013 was carefully considered by PWCF Trustees at the time. Due diligence was conducted, with information sought from a wide range of sources, including government. The decision to accept the donation was taken wholly by the trustees. Any attempt to suggest otherwise is misleading and inaccurate,” Chesire told the paper.

A spokeswoman for Clarence House told the outlet the charity “has assured us that thorough due diligence was undertaken in accepting this donation. The decision to accept was taken by the charity’s trustees alone and any attempt to characterise it otherwise is false.”
