Rod Stewart and his wife Penny Lancaster have taken a major step in their 15-year marriage.

The Maggie May singer, 77, and his model wife, 52, decided to renew their vows for a second time.

The happy couple had a secret ceremony surrounded by their family in Australia.

According to Women’s Day, the pair reaffirmed their marriage over recent weeks while they were visiting Sydney.

They arrived in Australia last month as part of Rod’s tour where he played a string of shows.

But they sneaked off for a private ceremony with their sons Alastair, 17, and Aiden, 12, and their 18-year-old niece Raphaella.

The magazine claims that Rod even “spaced out his tour” so that their children could all attend the event.

An insider revealed they had plans to renew their vows for a while but held off on doing so until this year.

They also told how they celebrated afterwards by dining with Australian TV presenter Richard Wilkins.

The insider, a friend close to the family, said: “There’s a very good reason why Rod’s insisted he space out his tour dates – it’s the perfect place and the perfect time to renew their wedding vows.

“Now they can’t wait and are using this chance to do something special while here.

“Penny and Rod love being in love.

“They think there’s something fun about celebrating their vows in different locations around the world, so why not do it all again in Sydney!”

Rod and Penny first met when she offered to take photos of him on one of his tours back in 1999.

She had recently made the switch from modelling to photography just a few years prior to meeting him.

Eight years later they went on to tie the knot in a stunning ceremony in Portofino, Italy.

The loved-up pair then went on a lavish honeymoon in a yacht in the same location.

The first time they renewed their vows was in honour of their 10th wedding anniversary back in 2017.

Rod and Penny had an intimate ceremony in front of 100 family members at their 18th-century home in Essex.

The couple have two kids together – Alastair and Aidan – while Rod shares his eldest child Sarah with his ex Susannah Boffey.

He also had his daughter Ruby with his ex-girlfriend Kelly Emberg and Renee and Liam were born while Rod was married to his ex-wife Rachel Hunter.

His daughter Kimberley and his son Sean were born during his marriage to his ex-wife Alana Stewart.
