“And I berated them and I got the whole audience to point at them and boo and then stamp their feet and go, ‘Out! Out! Out!’”

Cohen, 56, shook his head as fellow guest, Hollywood star Julia Stiles gasped

“And then I looked over to the side of the stage and my manager was there going like this [motioning waving arms] and he went [motioning pushing a wheelchair],” continued Williams. “And I was like, ‘Oh … okay.’”

Williams said he quickly won the audience back by singing one of his most recognisable hits.

“The way you get out of that is by a ballad,” he said. “Definitely by doing ‘Angels,’ ”

He added that the incident “happened before phones,” to which Cohen and Stiles both replied: “Thank god!”

Williams shouldn’t feel too bad, even the Queen of Pop herself, Madonna, once made the same mistake.

It comes after Williams’ blockbuster biopic Better Manperformed disastrously at the US box office over the weekend becoming the first bomb of the year.

The bizarre flick, in which the popular British pop star is portrayed by a CGI chimpanzee, has received glowing reviews from critics.

However, despite a warm reception from reviewers, the film – produced for a whopping $179 million – failed to make an impression upon its release.

Despite its huge budget, which doesn’t include global marketing costs, the movie grossed just $1.8m over the weekend.

To make matters worse, the film has failed to make an impression in Williams’ home country of the UK too.

Better Man faltered with $3.1m on its first weekend of release and has only managed to make a paltry $7.7m to date.

Created and directed by Australian filmmaker Michael Gracey, the creative mind behind The Greatest Showman, the film shows Williams’ harrowing descent to alcohol and drug abuse.
