RICKY Martin has split from his longtime partner Carlos Gonzalez Abella.
RICKY Martin has split from his longtime partner Carlos Gonzalez Abella.
The Voice coach, 42, and the stock broker have been together for four years.
"Ricky and Carlos have mutually agreed to end their relationship but continue to be united by friendship and their shared experiences," Martin's spokesman said.
Martin hinted at the break-up in a series of tweets.
"Change oh changes," he wrote. "Just because the lesson comes from someone you love, does not mean it is correct."
The pair began dating in 2010, the same year that Martin came out as gay.
He became a father to now five-year-old twins Matteo and Valentino in 2008.
A source said Gonzalez Abella and Martin had "been on the outs for awhile now."
"They’ve spent very little time together and have grown apart," the source told RadarOnline.
Martin previously told Vanity Fair in April that the couple had learnt a lot from each other.
"I have experienced wonderful things with my partner. Complexity, understanding, and, at the same time, freedom, not being afraid that your partner is judging you. That is what I have found with Carlos."
He added: "We’re going on four years together … When I started the process with my sons, Carlos wasn’t in my life. He said: ‘I’m looking for a boyfriend, not a father with a family.’ And I said to him: ‘You’ve found a grown-up, full-fledged man.’ I created a family structure and if he didn’t understand he’d ask me questions and we were on our way."
