Piers Morgan shames 20 celebrities for their behaviour during coronavirus crisis
Piers Morgan has attacked a number of stars he thinks should be ashamed of their behaviour during the coronavirus crisis.
Piers Morgan has broadened his attack on the celebrities he reckons should be ashamed of their behaviour during the coronavirus crisis – by attacking 20 of them at once.
The Good Morning Britain host, 55, sent a rocket in the direction of stars including Sam Smith, Taylor Swift, Idris Elba and even the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, The Sun reports.
Writing in the Daily Mail, he warmed up by blasting Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot for her much-criticised, “tone deaf” version of Imagine that was supposed to lift people’s spirits but left many cringing.
But he soon moved on to weightier targets, saying 47-year-old Elba had a place on his “idiot” list despite having contracted coronavirus himself – because he exposed the fact A-listers were getting tested while the UK’s National Health Service staff couldn’t.
Morgan later attacked High School Musical’s Vanessa Hudgens, who called the virus a “bunch of bullsh*t”, saying she was in “urgent need of shutting the f**k up”.
His ire then turned on singer Sam Smith, who earned a place on Morgan’s list thanks to a series of pictures he shared of a “meltdown” in self-isolation.
The TV star raged at the time: “FFS. I can’t take any more of this celebrity attention-seeking bulls***. Get a grip, the lot of you. This is a war, not an Instagram story op.”
Another favourite target, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, got both barrels from Morgan too, with him calling them “staggeringly entitled” for jetting away to Hollywood to search for homes during the coronavirus crisis.
Swift and Kim Kardashian also earned a stinging rebuke each for reigniting their ancient feud while the world faced an unprecedented health emergency.
He told The Sun yesterday: “No one gives a rat’s a**e about Kim’s latest barbs with Taylor. These people should be using their platforms to raise awareness about health workers and the importance of staying at home, not for their own gain.”
Even Gwyneth Paltrow found herself being blasted for putting on a face mask while flying to Paris and joking that it was like her 2011 movie Contagion.
Morgan failed to see the funny side, insisting the drama raging around the world was “very damn real”.
Singer Bono didn’t escape either, with the host suggesting his song Let Your Love Be Known, which the U2 star performed for the people of Italy, was another hardship they didn’t need.
World leaders got a pasting too, with Morgan’s old Celebrity Apprentice pal Donald Trump getting a mention for boasting about the ratings his coronavirus press conferences have been getting, with Morgan branding the US President “diabolically delusional”.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who now has the coronavirus, came under fire for failing to follow his own advice at a hospital.
In a boast that hasn’t aged well, the 55-year-old leader, said: “I shook hands with everybody!” Now, as Morgan pointed out, he is left running the country from self-isolation.
Old rival Madonna made the list too, with the host focusing on a nude video the singer posted where she discussed the coronavirus outbreak in a bath surrounded by candles – saying he imagined the cost of them could feed an NHS worker for six months.
And just in case there were any celebrities breathing a sigh of relief that they had escaped judgment, Morgan also issued a chilling warning that this was only the list “so far”.
