Photos prove Bindi Irwin’s daughter Grace is just like her mum

Spending her days and nights at Australia Zoo, Bindi Irwin’s daughter Grace is quickly growing up to be just like her mum.

Bindi Irwin’s daughter is following in her mother’s footsteps – learning to walk at Australia Zoo and making friends with the animals.

And how quickly she seems to be growing up.

Bindi, the daughter of late Australian icon Steve Irwin, posted a photo of her one-year-old daughter Grace on social media this weekend clutching her mother’s hand as she walked with a big smile for the camera.

“Evenings at Australia Zoo with my little love,” Bindi captioned the photo.

It came just days after Bindi, 23, posted another sweet moment of the toddler with a Cockatoo that Steve had rescued 20 years ago.

The photo of Bindi, Grace, Occa the Cockatoo, and Bindi’s mum Terri, was shared beside an old picture of Steve with the bird and another picture of Bindi as a child with the bird.

“Family forever. These photographs brought me to tears,” she wrote. “Grace spending time with sweet Occa who we rescued over 20 years ago. Every time he talks to her, she beams with happiness.”

Two weeks ago, Bindi celebrated the “big moment” Grace took her first steps by sharing a video with her followers.

Grace’s full name is Grace Warrior Irwin Powell, with the two middle names chosen as a tribute to Steve’s legacy as “the most incredible wildlife warrior”.

She had her first birthday on March 22 at Australia Zoo, surrounded by animals and family, and a portrait of Steve and Occa.

Steve Irwin, known as “The Crocodile Hunter” with a TV series of the same name, died in 2006 when Bindi was just eight years old.

On what would have been his 60th birthday on February 22 this year, Bindi watched the The Crocodile Hunter with Grace and shared stories about “her incredible Grandpa Crocodile”.

The date also marked what would have been Steve’s mother’s 80th birthday.

Lyn Irwin and her husband Bob founded what is now known as Australia Zoo in 1970.

Following in her family’s footsteps, Bindi is a keen wildlife conservationist and has continued to honour Steve throughout her life.

In January, Bindi shared that she had acquired a new tattoo in honour of both Steve and Grace.

On the inside of her left wrist, she has the words “graceful warrior” tattooed in Steve’s handwriting, next to an illustration of a crocodile.

“The words I spoke to our daughter as I held her for the first time in my arms were, ‘my graceful warrior’. That’s how her name was born,” Bindi wrote on Instagram, sharing pictures of her new ink.

“This is my dad’s handwriting to keep him with me, always.

“Our dear alligator, Daisy, is next to these words to represent our conservation work as Wildlife Warriors.”
