Paul McCartney is the latest high profile celebrity to throw support behind Johnny Depp
A major star has shown support for Johnny Depp, with a verdict expected in his defamation trial over the next few days.
Paul McCartney has become the latest celebrity to show support for Johnny Depp.
The former Beatle played a short video during a performance of his track ‘My Valentine’ at a concert in Orlando over the weekend.
Video footage captured from the crowd shows McCartney performing the song as normal from the piano, before an image of the embattled movie star appeared on the screen behind him, seemingly strumming along to the tune. Check it out below.
Both Depp and fellow actor Natalie Portman appeared in the original video clip of the song.
However, McCartney only recently brought the song back into the set, having omitted it from setlists on previous tours.
Only Depp’s moment from the film-clip featured in the live performance.
Naturally, the footage set Twitter alight with fans weighing in on the move.

Disgusting. It's better for singers to sing than to play judges.

Depp and McCartney have been friends for years, connected mainly through a shared interest in music, with McCartney in the past performing alongside Depp’s band Hollywood Vampires.
McCartney also cameoed in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, playing Uncle Jack, a relative of Depp’s universally renowned Jack Sparrow character.

The show of support comes on the tail end of Depp’s $70 million defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard.
Final statements were heard from both Depp and Heard last week, with the case now being deliberated by a jury, who are expected to hand down their findings later this week.
Depp stunned the world with a surprise appearance on stage in the UK with Jeff Beck over the weekend.
McCartney joins the likes of Courtney Love, Penelope Cruz and Sia in expressing support for Depp.
