Paris Hilton reveals grim truth behind infamous sex tape
The hotel heiress has shared the harrowing details of how she came to be featured in the X-rated film, which she says was later released against her will.
Paris Hilton has said she was “uncomfortable” when her ex-boyfriend Rick Salomon asked her to make a sex tape with him.
The hotel heiress claims in her forthcoming book, Paris: The Memoir, that the US poker player pressured her into filming the X-rated video in 2001, reports Page Six.
“He had often said it was something he did with other women, but I felt weird and uncomfortable about it,” she wrote (via an excerpt obtained by the Times of London).
“I always told him, ‘I can’t. It’s too embarrassing.’”
Hilton, who was 19 at the time, said Salomon threatened to “find someone” else to have sex with him on camera.
“He told me if I wouldn’t do it, he could easily find someone who would, and that was the worst thing I could think of – to be dumped by this grown man because I was a stupid kid who didn’t know how to play grown-up games,” she wrote of Salomon, who is more than 10 years her senior.
The reality TV star admitted to drinking alcohol and taking sedatives prior to shooting what would end up being known as 1 Night In Paris.
Hilton said she begged Salomon – who she referred to in the excerpt only by the nickname “Scum” – not to release the tape, but he refused to do as she asked, which she said made her feel as if her “life was over” and her “self-worth” was destroyed.
“He said he had every right to sell something that belonged to him — something that had a lot of financial value,” she wrote of the tape, which was released in 2004. “More value than my privacy, obviously. My dignity. My future. Shame, loss and stark terror swept over me.”
Now 42, Hilton wrote that the relationship she had tried to rebuild with her parents and siblings was “instantly in ruins”.
“My mum just crumpled into bed and stayed there,” she said. “My dad, red-faced and furious, worked the phones, calling lawyers, calling spin doctors, trying to help me marshal any hope of damage control.”
The hotel heiress’s image recovered substantially after the airing of reality show The Simple Life, which she did with Nicole Richie, and she has since married author Carter Reum. The couple recently welcomed their first child together, a boy named Phoenix, via surrogate.
