Nicola Peltz reignites rumours of ‘feud’ with Victoria Beckham by saying ‘no family’s perfect’
Victoria Beckham’s daughter-in-law, actor Nicola Peltz, has reignited rumours of a feud between the pair with her latest comments.
Actress Nicola Peltz has reignited rumours of a feud with her mother-in-law, Victoria Beckham, after insisting that “no family is perfect” and opening up about their wedding dress saga.
Speaking about her alleged fallout with husband Brooklyn’s mum, the 27-year-old American actress and model claimed that fashion designer Posh didn’t even call her to say she couldn’t complete her wedding gown.
But her comments were described by a source close to Victoria as “mildly infuriating”.
Speaking to The Sun, the insider even accused Nicola of “trading on the Beckhams’ name”.
While Nicola insisted “there is no feud”, she pointedly explained how the former Spice Girl had decided to break the news about the wedding dress to her mum Claudia instead.
Victoria, 48, was reportedly already upset at suggestions that she had in some way let down the bride-to-be by not coming up with a finished outfit for the big day in April this year.
The wedding storm follows claims of a widening rift between the two families, with Brooklyn’s billionaire father-in-law Nelson Peltz and his wife allegedly “looking down on” retired footballer David and former pop star Victoria.

In an interview with The Sunday Times, Nicola said of the dress saga: “The real truth is, I really, really wanted to wear it and I thought it was so beautiful that Brooklyn’s mom got to make that for me.
“And I was really excited to wear it. And I didn’t end up wearing it.”
She explained that she had been in a text chain with her mother, Victoria and her stylist, Leslie, while filming and directing her debut film, Lola James.
She added: “Victoria was very busy, and a few days went by and I didn’t hear anything. Then I think Victoria thought since I was on set, maybe she didn’t want to upset me, so she called my mom and said that she couldn’t make the dress.
“She said that her atelier (studio) couldn’t make the dress in time.”
Insiders have claimed that Victoria never promised to make the dress and Nicola’s version of events appears to be at odds with those put forward by people who know the Beckhams.
In the end, Nicola got married in an “incredible” Valentino number, which had taken a year to organise.
So far neither of Brooklyn’s parents have spoken publicly on the issue but on Sunday night a source close to Victoria told The Sun: “This all keeps getting rehashed, and is fuelling the flames.
“It’s mildly infuriating to say the least, and for someone who keeps insisting she is not interested in trading on the Beckhams’ name, she brings them up a surprising amount in interviews.
“Victoria won’t be bothered though, as this doesn’t reflect badly on her.”
Brooklyn is not exactly helping matters either.
Two weeks ago the 23-year-old wannabe celebrity chef posted an image of the controversial frock on his Instagram page with the message: “Six months with my best friend x wouldn’t choose anyone else to live life with.”
It blows a hole in Victoria and Nicola’s recent attempt to put on a united front.
At the start of this month, Posh invited her daughter-in-law to attend her Paris Fashion Show.
Nicola duly sat in the front row with Brooklyn, while Posh displayed uncharacteristic emotion by welling up on the catwalk.
She said at the weekend: “The moment I saw David, and the kids and my mum and my dad and my sister, I just got so emotional, I really did.
“Because family is everything to me. To have them there, to support me, is just everything.”
Behind the scenes, however, there were hints that all was not well in the French capital.
Photos showed Nicola with her back turned to her mother-in-law during the glamorous event.
It did not go unnoticed that the fashion-loving actress also failed to comment on any social media posts showcasing Victoria’s latest fashion collection.
Instead, she congratulated British Vogue editor Edward Enninful and praised Valentino designer Pierpaolo Piccioli’s “stunning” show.
Brooklyn and his wife did not stay on for Posh’s glitzy afterparty.
Their preference was to go for dinner with Nicola’s mum Claudia, 67, whom she calls “my bestie”.
The Beckham clan have always been incredibly close.
Ex-England captain David and Victoria are helping their four children — Brooklyn, Romeo, 20, Cruz, 17, and Harper, 11 — to forge careers of their own.
But their firstborn appears to be spending far more time in the orbit of his wife’s family.
The Paris fashion show was the first time Brooklyn and Nicola had hung out with his parents since July.
And the love of his life won’t be going to her in-laws for Christmas for the second year running.
Culture and brand expert Nick Ede told The Sun: “It’s time to put the feud story to bed. The best way they can do this now is by showing a united front, like at fashion week in Paris, and perhaps use social media as a way to stop the speculation that there is a rift.”
Nicola’s insistence in her latest interview that “it’s not a feud” certainly has not done the job.
And Nick warned that her repeated insistence that “no family is perfect” has only made matters worse.
He said: “This will perpetuate the rumour mill and add fuel to the fire.”
Any ramping up of the alleged row by Victoria is only likely to further push her son into the hands of his American in-laws.
All the signs are that Brooklyn is truly loved up and Nicola says he is keen to start a “big family” with her.
He spends much of his time in Palm Beach, Florida, where his investor father-in-law Nelson lives.
Nelson has reportedly been giving business advice to budding entrepreneur Brooklyn.
But Nicola also revealed she isn’t about to let her husband get in on acting.
She cut Brooklyn out of her directorial debut Lola James, which is yet to be released, because he was so bad.
Nicola said: “He did a few parts in the background, which, if you pay attention, you can find him, but in one scene he’s like, ‘Can I put the mic on? I wanna say a line’. So I was like, ‘OK, say whatever you want, you’re just gonna walk into the store. You can say hi, hey, whatever.’
“He says the line. And I started laughing so hard. He had the most British accent ever. I ended up cutting him out.”
If her husband was offended, he isn’t showing it.
At the weekend Brooklyn posted a black and white photo of Nicola covering her naked breasts to celebrate the three years they have been together.
Brooklyn wrote: “I feel like I have known you my whole life. Happy anniversary to my other half, my best friend and to my gorgeous wife x could not live this life without you.”
