New surveillance video doesn’t align with Tara Reid’s claim she was ‘drugged’ at hotel bar
Newly released hotel surveillance footage has exposed major contradictions in Tara Reid’s account of the night she claims she was “drugged” at a Chicago hotel.
Newly released hotel surveillance video shows Tara Reid downing multiple glasses of wine on the night she was allegedly “drugged” and left near-collapse in a hotel lobby.
The American Pie star claimed in a police report filed last month that she only had one drink at the bar after checking into the Rosemont DoubleTree hotel just outside of Chicago on November 23, only to completely blackout and be taken to hospital in an ambulance hours later.
However, in a new video released by the Rosemont Police Department and obtained by TMZ on Saturday, the actress was caught drinking more than the one glass of wine she claimed.
In the surveillance video captured from inside the hotel bar, 50-year-old Reid is seen sitting between two men as a bartender serves her first glass of wine.
After chugging on that initial glass, a second bartender then pours her another, which she also guzzled down at once.
The actress is then seen leaving the bar before returning, without the fur coat and beanie she was wearing, and sitting on the other side of the bar next to the man she accused of drugging her.
Reid then appeared to down her third glass of wine, which she again chugged at once.
This newly released surveillance video does not align with Reid’s account of what happened that night when she was taken from the lobby of the hotel unconscious and in a wheelchair.
Shocking viral footage shared at the time showed the actress struggling to stay upright, slumped in a wheelchair as hotel staff tried to offer assistance.
Reid filed a police report with the Rosemont Public Safety Department in Illinois days after the incident, claiming she was staying at the hotel for a celebrity signing when she encountered a “bunch of YouTubers in the lobby” which she found “suspicious”.
She stated in the report that she ordered one glass of white wine at the bar and was approached by a man who claimed to be a big influencer.
The pair then went to have a cigarette together outside and when she returned to the bar, she said her drink was covered in a napkin before a couple sat down next to her.
“The next thing I remember was I was waking up in the hospital around 8 hours or more later not knowing where I was or anything that happened,” she stated in the report. “I completely blacked out with no recollection of anything.”
Following a week-long investigation, the Rosemont Public Safety Department said they found no evidence to support Reid’s claim her drink was tampered with that night.
“While video surveillance showed Tara Reid at the hotel bar, at no time did video show anyone tampering with or adding something to her drink,” the department wrote in the statement released on Thursday.
“We can confirm that a bartender covered her drink when she left the bar which is standard practice for bartenders to do.”
The statement concluded by saying authorities have found “no criminal act that has been committed” and that they are not currently investigating anyone.
Reid was quick to hit back at the police’s findings, saying in her own statement to Fox News Digital:
“Bottom line is no one ends up in the hospital incapacitated for over 8 hours after a drink,” she wrote. “Last thing I remember is having one drink and waking up in the hospital the next day without remembering anything. That was the scariest feeling I have ever felt. I felt so helpless.”
She added, “This has been a horrifying experience for me that is severely affecting my mental health. I cannot sleep over this. It’s a very scary feeling not knowing what happened to me. I believe I was drugged. Something happened to me.”
