‘Narcissist’: Howard Stern slams Johnny Depp for overacting during defamation trial

Howard Stern has weighed in on Johnny Depp’s defamation case, branding the actor a “narcissist” and believes the star “overacted” in his testimony.

US radio host Howard Stern has blasted Johnny Depp as a “huge narcissist” during his defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard.

According to People, the 68-year-old discussed the highly profiled case on Monday’s episode of his SiriusXM radio programThe Howard Stern Show.

“The reason he wanted that on – he wanted it televised [because] that’s what narcissists do,” the shock jock said.

“They think they can talk their way out of anything.

“I think Johnny Depp is a huge narcissist and what I mean by that is – he figured, ‘I’ll put this on TV and because I’m so persuasive and because I’m so smart, I’m such a wonderful guy.’”

While analysing video clips of the trial, the radio personality accused the Edward Scissorhands actor of “overacting” during his testimony and cross examination.

“If he isn’t acting – I mean, he’s so overacting, because he’s writing his own material as he goes along. You know, I got to tell you, he’s wrong. He shouldn’t be putting this on TV in any shape,” Stern said, suggesting the 21 Jump Street alum thought, “I will charm the pants off of America at the trial.”

“No, you won’t! This will not go well,” he added.

“It’s not going well for you, it’s not going well for her. It’s not going well for anybody. You sound like two battling children.

“It’s just coming off really badly. Johnny Depp testified in court for two days last week. Two days. Think about that, lots of room to embarrass yourself. Two full f***ing days!”

The Pirates of the Caribbean star is suing his ex-wife for $70 million, claiming she defamed him in a 2018 Washington Post opinion piece in which she described herself as a victim of domestic abuse.

Depp was not named in the essay, but he says it clearly referenced him – and ruined his career, damaged his reputation and lost him tens of millions of dollars.

Heard’s team argues that Depp did abuse his ex-wife, physically and sexually, and claim that his denials are not credible because he was often too drunk or high to recall what happened.

The former couple met on the set of The Rum Diary and began dating in 2012. They married in February 2015 but called it quits after 15 months.
