Millie Bobby Brown reveals real name for the first time

“Never told anyone that”: The Stranger Things actress has dropped a bit of a personal bombshell in a new interview.

Star, 21, slams commentary about her looks

Millie Bobby Brown isn’t really Millie Bobby Brown.

The actress revealed her real name is Millie Bonnie Brown during an interview with BuzzFeed UK published on Thursday.

While talking to her Electric State co-star Chris Pratt, Brown explained that she changed her middle name from Bonnie to Bobby for “s**ts and giggles” when she started acting, reports Page Six.

“I’ve never told anyone that,” she said. “You heard it here first!”

A shocked Pratt simply quipped, “Oh, s**t!”

As for where Bobby came from, Brown, 21, seemingly was paying tribute to her father, Robert “Bobby” Brown.

However, that’s not the only change the Stranger Things star has made to her name.

In August 2024, she confirmed she had adopted her husband Jake Bongiovi‘s last name after they tied the knot earlier that year.

Taking to Instagram at the time, Brown shared behind-the-scenes snaps of herself filming Stranger Things Season 5, one of which showcased her new name on a blackboard that read, “Millie Bobby Brown Bongiovi.”

She has also undergone a physical transformation as of late, trading her brunette locks for blond.

Ahead of her 21st birthday in February, the starlet debuted her lighter hair in an Instagram post.

While many fans suspected she had undergone a makeover to manifest being cast as Britney Spears in an upcoming biopic, others couldn’t help but bash it, saying it made her look “old.”

Brown was forced to address the hate by first sharing a Vogue story titled “No One Cares How Old You Think Millie Bobby Brown Looks” to her Instagram Stories.

She then told her fans earlier this week, “I want to take a moment to address something that I think is bigger than just me, something that affects every young woman who grows up under public scrutiny.

“I started in this industry when I was 10 years old. I grew up in front of the world, and for some reason, people can’t seem to grow with me.”

The Enola Holmes star claimed her critics expect her to “stay frozen in time” and still look the way she did in the first season of Stranger Things, which premiered in 2016.

“And because I don’t, I’m now a target,” she said before adding, “Disillusioned people can’t handle seeing a girl become a woman on her terms, not theirs.

“I refuse to apologise for growing up. I refuse to make myself smaller to fit the unrealistic expectations of people who can’t handle seeing a girl become a woman.”
