Margot Robbie and Cara Delevingne’s team ‘arrested’ protecting stars from paparazzi
Two filmmakers who work with Margot Robbie have been arrested in Argentina after attempting to protect the Australian actress and Cara Delevingne from paparazzi.
Margot Robbie and her supermodel friend Cara Delevingne were at the centre of an alleged “punch-up” in which two British filmmakers were arrested at a celebrity restaurant in Argentina at the weekend.
The Hollywood stars had just finished a meal at the famous hotspot Patagonia Sur in Buenos Aires at 3am, local time on Sunday when a paparazzi tried to take their picture, The Sun reports.
British movie producer Josey McNamara, who is a business partner of the Australian actress, and British key grip Jac Hopkins, got into a scuffle with local photographer Pedro Alberto Orquera, who claims he ended up on the floor bleeding with a broken arm.
The two filmmakers were arrested and taken to a police station for questioning while it is understood Robbie and Delevingne fled the scene.
Alberto Orquera has now said he is filing a lawsuit against the two men.
Robbie, 32, and Delevingne, 30, had been eating at Argentine celebrity chef Francis Mallmann’s restaurant in the early hours of Sunday when the alleged incident happened.
The pair were in the South American country with the producers, who have long worked with the Wolf of Wall Street star, after previously attending Paris Fashion Week festivities.
They had been dining at the exclusive celebrity hangout in La Boca area when photographer Alberto Orquera alleges he was bashed by the men.
“It was a brutal attack. Really cowardly,” Alberto Orquera told The Sun. “They tried to take my camera to delete the pictures that I had taken.
“I started running away from them because they were hitting me.
“While I was running from them they kicked me hard so my camera went up in the air and I fell on the floor and injured my arm.
“I was bleeding an awful lot. I was losing a lot of blood, in a few minutes the police arrived.”
Robbie and Delevingne had been entering their waiting car when the incident occurred, and witnesses say Robbie nearly fell out of the vehicle as the driver rushed to speed away.
Onlookers called 911 after watching the brawl, and Alberto Orquera was rushed to hospital where he is awaiting surgery for “serious injuries”.
A police report shows that McNamara and Hopkins told police the photographer was “responsible for his own injuries” as the stars had not given their consent for photos to be taken.
McNamara and Hopkins reportedly appeared in front of magistrates yesterday afternoon, according to The Sun, and it’s thought Robbie and Delevingne flew to the south of the country alone later that day.
Recently, McNamara worked with Robbie in the soon-to-be released Greta Gerwig movie, Barbie, along with Hopkins, who was also part of the crew.
It comes as Robbie last month worried fans after she was spotted looking upset following a visit to Delevingne’s home.
The concerning pictures were taken just a week after Delevingne was seen looking dishevelled and distressed at Van Nuys airport in Los Angeles after returning from Burning Man.
The model’s friends have expressed worry over her increasingly erratic behaviour, including smoking what appeared to be a pipe outside a sex shop last month.
The duo became close after meeting in a bar before they starred in 2016’s Suicide Squad together.
The friends even got matching smiley face tattoos on their big toes.
The Sun has approached both Robbie and Delevingne for comment.
