Lena Dunham: Why I’m much happier heavier

THE star shared a photo of herself at her thinnest, revealing she was showered in compliments — but secretly miserable.

LENA Dunham is embracing her curves and kicking body-shamers to the kerb.

The 32-year-old actress sent out a body-positive message on Instagram, posting two side-by-side photos of herself: one where she looked thin and felt miserable, and another where she looks curvier but feels substantially happier.

“On the left: 138 pounds, complimented all day and propositioned by men and on the cover of a tabloid about diets that work,” she writes of the photo of her leaner self from April 2017. “Also, sick in the tissue and in the head and subsisting only on small amounts of sugar, tons of caffeine and a purse pharmacy.”

The Girls star then went on to share how much healthier she is inside and out in the second photo, which was snapped by paparazzi on Sunday.

“On the right: 162 pounds, happy joyous & free, complimented only by people that matter for reasons that matter, subsisting on a steady flow of fun/healthy snacks and apps and entrees, strong from lifting dogs and spirits,” she wrote.

While Dunham has always been an advocate for loving all shapes and sizes, and has proudly flaunted her body, she admits there are moments where she misses her skinnier self. However, the moment passes when she remembers how free she feels today.

“Even this OG body positivity warrior sometimes looks at the left picture longingly, until I remember the impossible pain that brought me there and onto my proverbial knees,” she wrote. “As I type I can feel my back fat rolling up under my shoulder blades. I lean in.”
