Kyle Sandilands’ emotional admission during wedding speech
Kyle Sandilands is better known for bluster and bombast than tender-hearted emotions. But if there’s going to be time for vulnerability, it’s now.
Kyle Sandilands took a break from his usual antics for a rare emotional display when he toasted his new bride, Tegan Kynaston.
The radio personality and Kynaston, who worked in marketing, wed at the ritzy heritage mansion Swifts in Sydney’s Darling Point.
According to The Daily Telegraph, during the ostentatious reception, Sandilands said to Kynaston, “Baby – we’ve done it.
“I always thought the love I was looking for and that I wanted was a delusion and wasn’t achievable. You’ve changed my life and made me a better man.”
“I love you, baby.”
He added that watching Kynaston become a mother to their son had made him “fall in love with her all over again”.
The lavish wedding ceremony and reception reportedly cost close to a million dollars, which included $150,000 spent on flowers, $100,000 on entertainment and $75,000 on food.
The festivities kicked off the in the midafternoon with the ceremony in the onsite chapel before the party moved to the gardens where guests were served cocktails, champagne and oyster shooters. There, Conrad Sewell performed.
The reception was held under a grand marquee – decked out with crystal chandeliers – where the 120 attendees had a three-course meal with options including a burrata dish, a mushroom tortellini, crispy barramundi and eye fillet, The Daily Telegraph reported.
The cake was a five-tier spectacle from Sweet Bloom Cakes. The bride wore a gown by Michelle Mason.
Guy Sebastian serenaded the couple’s first dance while Samantha Jade also performed. The evening circled back to the chapel, where the after-party kicked off from 9pm.
Among the other notable faces on the guest list were Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, NSW Premier Chris Minns, Jackie “Jackie O” Henderson, Jeff Fenech, Karl Stefanovic, Darryn Lyons and Beau Ryan. Sandilands’ groomsmen included John Ibrahim and convicted drug smuggler Simon Main.
Sandilands and Kynaston were friends for five years before their relationship became romantic in 2019 after his split from model Imogen Anthony – his girlfriend of eight years.
Kynaston previously worked as the radio host’s office manager before becoming the communications director at his entertainment company, King Kyle Group.
They were engaged in January 2022 and in August the pair welcomed their first child together, a baby boy named Otto.
Last month, in an interview with the Daily Mail, Sandilands admitted he “can’t put a finger on the exact day they fell in love” as their friendship effortlessly evolved into romance.
“She was single and I was single for the first time [in a while]. And I think we never really thought of each other in that way, we just appreciated each other and were genuinely friends. And it just blossomed from there,” he said.
