Kourtney Kardashian reveals worst part about extended stay in Australia
Kourtney Kardashian has revealed the worst thing about Australia in the latest episode of her family’s hugely popular reality show.
Kourtney Kardashian has shared the reason she’d never move to Australia.
The US reality star enjoyed a lengthy stint in Sydney earlier this year while husband Travis Barker was touring the country with his punk band Blink-182.
The family trip in February, which marked the couple’s first international jaunt with their then four-month-old son Rocky, was the subject of the latest episode of Hulu’s The Kardashians, where Kourtney, 45, shared videos of her encounter with a large huntsman spider.
“The only reason I could never move to Australia is for the spiders,” Kourtney said in a confessional.
“It’s just terrifying and it’s just not the way I want to live my life.”
Footage taken by Kourtney then showed how the star discovered a spider in their sprawling $10,000-per-night mansion overlooking the harbour.
Despite living in fear of spiders for the entirety of her stay, Kourtney said her family, including daughter Penelope, 12, and son Reign, 9, whom she shares with ex Scott Disick, had “been having the best time”.
“Travis is touring to different cities in Australia for about a week, but because I was on bedrest before, and then having a newborn at home, I haven’t really had any outings with my other kids, so really I wanted to stay in Sydney,” she said.
During their holiday, Kourtney was sighted on a number of occasions, including during a day out at Luna Park and sightseeing in Bondi.
It comes after Kourtney revealed she almost didn’t make the trek down under, having expressed concerns about Australian paparazzi in last week’s episode.
Speaking to her sister Kim Kardashian, who described local paparazzi as “brutal”, Kourtney said she was worried about stepping out with her newborn, who was yet to be photographed.
“I’m starting to get a little bit of anxiety about going to Australia,” Kourtney said in the episode.
“Rocky hasn’t been seen [yet], and in California, there’s a law that if I don’t show the baby’s face, the paparazzi has to blur his image.
“But in Australia, supposedly there are no paparazzi laws, so they can take the photo and, you know, sell their image.”
She continued, “So I think even knowing that we’re going on a plane with a lot of people, I’m just feeling really protective. It’s just a lot to think about.”
While there are no official laws in regards to publishing photos of children in Australia, local media generally blur their faces out of respect, particularly if their image hasn’t been published on social media.
In 2013, California politicians passed legislation restricting the rights of photographers attempting to take photos of celebrity children.
