Katie Holmes announces surprise new Aussie gig
The Dawson’s Creek star has announced the new role which will see her heading Down Under before the end of the year.
Katie Holmes is headed to Australia.
The Dawson’s Creek and Batman Begins star announced today that she’s been named as 2019 Ambassador for McHappy Day, an annual fundraiser run by McDonald’s. This year’s event will be held on Saturday 16th November, with Holmes planning to be front and centre on the day.
“I’m proud to be named the 2019 Ambassador for McHappy Day and I’m really looking forward to being in Australia for this important event,” the Hollywood actress said in a statement.
“McHappy Day raises funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities, ultimately helping to keep families together while their sick or injured child undergoes treatment.
“I can only imagine how much that helps the child and reduces the impact on the family unit.”
Holmes, 40, shares a daughter, 13-year-old Suri, with ex-husband Tom Cruise.
Meanwhile, it was revealed last week that the star’s highly secretive six-year relationship with Jamie Foxx has ended, just months after their first public appearance together.
According to Page Six, the couple split in late May, just weeks after they hit the red carpet together at the Met Gala in New York City.
They’d been together since 2013 — about a year after Holmes divorced Cruise.
