Kate Ritchie joins Tim Blackwell and Marty Sheargold for Nova's national Drive show in 2014

GOLD Logie Award winning actress Kate Ritchie will embark on an exciting new venture nexy year, but it might not be what you think.

KATE Ritchie is returning to the radio airwaves.

The Aussie actress will join Tim Blackwell and Marty Sheargold on Nova's national drive show from 4pm till 6pm in 2014.

"I love the freedom of radio (as well as cheeky boys) which is why I can't wait to get back into the Nova studio on a regular basis with Tim and Marty," Ritchie said.

"I can't say I ever loved the 4am alarm clock and that's what makes this drive shift a dream job!"

The announcement comes after comedians Tommy Little and Meshel Laurie were named as the new breakfast show for Nova, replacing Hughesy and Kate Langbroek in January 2014.

Ritchie will replace Laurie who is currently in the drive timeslot.

The former Home and Away star is no stranger to radio. She is a regular fill-in for Nova 96.9's Fitzy & Wippa and was one third of the Nova Sydney brekkie team alongside Merrick and Rosso throughout 2008 and 2009.

Dmg Radio's Group Program Director Paul Jackson said: "Kate was a natural choice as she's no stranger to the audience and her style of banter fits perfectly the real, relatable, conversational style that has made our drive show number one across Australia."
