Kate Beckinsale blasted critics telling her she’s too “thin” following her recent health scare.

The actress was forced to stand up for herself after people flooded the comment section of an Instagram clip showing her preparations for her forthcoming 1990s-based film, Stolen Girl.

The video showed Beckinsale donning a slew of retro-styled fits and hairstyles while goofing around in her trailer. She later deleted the video from her Instagram account, after it was flooded with comments from people expressing concern about how thin she appeared.

Beckinsale, 50, described her on-set experience as a “redo” of the ’90s as she recalled the days she used to cut her own hair, wear her brother’s pyjamas, live in her Dr. Martens and over-apply translucent powder.

While the actress seemed thrilled to be back at work after her weeks-long hospital stay, haters quickly gave their opinion about her appearance.

“Sorry to say this Kate, but you do look a bit thin,” one person wrote. “You always strikes a great balance … But when your cheekbones start to show, the balance is lost …

Beckinsale clapped back at the critic, writing, “I nursed my [stepdad] to his death early this year. My mum also has stuff going on. I am adjusting to watching two fathers die, one when I was 5, one in January of this year.”

In January, the star lost her stepfather Roy Battersby after a brief illness. She also discovered her father Richard Beckinsale’s body after he died from a heart attack when she was a child.

“I lost my soulmate cat of almost 19 years, also last year,” she continued. “I spent six weeks in hospital due to copiously vomiting blood from a [Mallory-Weiss tear] caused by the stress of a whole year ripping a hole between my [oesophagus] and stomach.”

Kate explained she also “experienced a severe flare of [her] mast cell disease,” which is “mitigated by stress, shock and grief.”

She continued, “That’s what I am prepared to disclose that has contributed to some weight loss. What you think of my appearance and how I should look, independently of any circumstances in my life and my family’s is not important.

“I am trying to survive what feel like unbearable losses, reactivated PTSD from discovering my very young father’s almost dead body as a very young child alone in the night, and working to support the family I have left.”

The star also called out the critic for feeling the need “to bully females about their appearance.”

“The fact you fancy girls who are heavier than I am does not feature in things that are important or relevant,” she wrote. “I don’t care what your taste in women is. I care that you think any of us need to be apprised of it … Do better.”

Kate also responded to a troll who wrote, “Please eat something. I love you, I’m very worried with your skinny look.”

“Enough,” she replied.

In March, Kate concerned fans when she took to social media to share a selfie of herself in the hospital.

For weeks, she continued to post cryptic snaps from the hospital, though she never shared her illness.

After being discharged, the actress hinted at her condition as posed in a T-shirt that read, “Tummy Troubles Survivor.”
