KANYE West “is suffering from a lot more than just dehydration” and will stay in hospital until at least the end of this week, claim new US reports.

Sources close to the 39-year-old, who suffered a “psychotic break” on Monday, have told TMZ that his stay under medical supervision could last longer than friends an family hoped, reports The Sun.

The website claim “his hospitalisation is far from over” and he will be staying in the UCLA Medical Centre until at least Sunday. They also report that his condition is “way worse than sleep and water deprivation”.

It comes amid reports Beyonce is urging her husband, Jay Z, to reconnect with West during his tough time.

It had previously been reported that West would continue his stay at UCLA Medical Centre during the American holiday of thanksgiving with wife Kim Kardashian by his side.

She had previously asked if he could come home and spend it with her and their two children, three-year-old North, and son Saint, who turns one next month.

People magazine reported that Kardashian left his bedside for the first time on Wednesday night with a personal security guard.

West is currently being treated for a “temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration.”

Discussing his progress, an American source told the publication: “[Kanye] is starting to feel more like himself, and that he understands the importance of resting and getting help.

“They are taking it day by day. He understands that getting help at the hospital was necessary.”

West’s medical emergency may save him millions of dollars, it has also been reported.

After cancelling all remaining tour dates six hours before being admitted to hospital, his insurance policy is expected to cover him for the $40 million loss these shows will incur.

TMZ claims the policy covers the rapper “if the event illness prevented him from performing”.

It continues: “The policy provides the insurance carrier will pay Kanye for not only the money he’d make but the money he was obligated to pay others if ‘accident or illness … prevents any Insured Person from appearing or continuing to appear in any or all of the Insured Performance(s) or Event(s).’”

However, rapper Akon declared that West has been cursed, like the other men who get involved with the Kardashian women.

“I actually thought about that, because at first it was a big joke to everybody,” the rapper told TMZ.

“But in Africa there have always been sayings that sometimes you can’t deny what you see, but oftentimes the eye may deceive you too.

“I just wanna investigate this further just for fun, it is something to think about though. I wouldn’t deny it but I wouldn’t promote it either,” he said.

“When you think about it, the evidence all points to it.”

Meanwhile, singer Beyonce is planning an intervention to help West get through his breakdown.

The superstar singer has been quietly pushing her 46-year-old husband Jay Z to reach out to the troubled rapper.

“Kim is by his side now and will stand there till everything gets better,” a source said.

“Their time together was just about support. Kanye will be OK. He has a good set of doctors and the main thing is he wants to get through this.”
