Jonathan Van Ness reveals he collapsed in Gigi Hadid’s house
Jonathan Van Ness was sitting in Gigi Hadid’s house when she made a comment that rendered him speechless for 15 seconds.
Jonathan Van Ness was so stunned by a comment from Gigi Hadid that he practically fainted for 15 seconds.
The Queer Eye star told the story during an interview on news.com.au’s podcast, I’ve Got News For You, to promote his upcoming Australian comedy tour, Imaginary Living Room Olympian Tour.
When asked to name a time that he’d embarrassed himself in front of a celebrity, JVN recalled what happened when he first met Gigi Hadid four years ago at her house.
“I was sitting cross-legged on the floor … by her couch,” Van Ness said. “We were chatting … about fashion and Fashion Week, and she said something about how gorgeous Serena’s (Williams) line is.”
Fans of JVN will no doubt be aware that he idolises the US tennis star, who recently retired from the game.
“The way that she referred to Serena, like, all of a sudden it came crashing down on me that I was sitting in the presence of someone who was on a first-name basis with Serena!” he told the I’ve Got News For You podcast.
“I was like, ‘I’m sorry, it just is too much, like, it’s just too much for me’,” he recalled.
JVN was so overcome that he collapsed on the floor.
“I just literally laid straight back,” he said. “And then I sat back up after 15 seconds and I was like, okay, I’m fine.”

The Queer Eye star said he was worried that his reaction to the Serena comment might have been a little OTT for Gigi Hadid.
“I was like, I hope she didn’t feel that was too much, but that was four years ago and we’re still friends, so that’s good,” he said.
Hadid isn’t JVN’s only famous friend. He’s also pals with Taylor Swift, Bridgerton’s Nicola Coughlan and Michelle Kwan.
With so many celebrity pals, JVN admits that he has to be careful about how he saves their mobile numbers in his phone.
“I actually do this thing where I put their names in as old (hairdressing) clients of mine who they remind me of,” he revealed.
JVN will be sharing stories just like this when he brings his Imaginary Living Room Olympian Tour to Australia later this month.
He is performing in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. For details and bookings head to www.tegdainty.com.
