JOHNNY Depp has slammed Barnaby Joyce, calling him a “weird, sweaty-pated gut man” who he would have “assaulted” if he had thrown his wife in jail.
Depp revealed his true feelings about the Customs drama that saw the Agriculture Minister threaten to kill the actor’s dogs, Pistol and Boo, if they weren’t not removed from the country.
Comedian Jimmy Kimmel asked Depp how he felt when Joyce had threatened to throw his wife Amber Heard, 29, in jail over the scandal.
“If they did that I’d just fly to Australia and assault that man,” Depp said of Joyce. “So that I could go to jail,” he said.
Depp joked that the dogs may have acted as a perfect decoy to mask other things had been on his private jet.
“There might have been other things smuggled ... they seemed to have missed that bit,” he said.
The Pirates of the Carribean star said that he believed he was acting in accordance with Australian law when he brought his dogs Down Under,
“We were under the impression that we had all the paperwork done for the dogs. We were there with the dogs in front of everybody,” he said.
Kimmel suggested that Joyce was “some kind of maniac” at which point Depp tried to play Devil’s advocate.
“Maybe he’s — just doing his job,” he said with a smile. “This sort of weird, sweaty-pated gut man who decided that two five-, six-inch Teacup Yorkshire Terriers would harm the country in some way.
“He’s got a point. Especially when you consider that Australia has the most poisonous creatures on Earth. Everything will kill you in minutes,” he joked.
Depp was there to promote his new movie Black Mass in which he plays notorious mobster James ‘Whitey’ Bulger.
