John Farnham’s family has given a new update on the Aussie music legend’s health two months after he was hospitalised for a chest infection.
John Farnham’s family has shared an update on the singer’s health two months after he was hospitalised for a chest infection.
In a statement released on Monday evening, it was revealed the Australian music legend, 73, has made a “full recovery” after he was admitted to hospital in March.
“We’re pleased to say that John made a full recovery from a recent chest infection in late March which required hospitalisation. He is now comfortable and continues to receive ongoing treatment and rehabilitation care,” his wife, Jill, and sons, Rob and James, said in the statement.
Back in August last year, Farnham underwent a gruelling 12-hour surgery requiring 26 surgeons to remove a cancerous growth in his mouth, which also reportedly involved reconstructing part of his jaw.
In the months since, the You’re The Voice singer has received an overwhelming amount of messages and support from fans across the globe.
“The family would like to reiterate their appreciation and deepest respect for all the medical staff that have attended to John over the past eight months and the many thousands of kind messages that been received from across Australia and the world,” the statement continued.
“No further comment is available at this time and the family appreciates the media’s continued respect for John’s privacy.”
It was the rocker who first made his health battle public in August, just before he went in for surgery.
“Cancer diagnosis is something that so many people face every single day, and countless others have walked this path before me,” he said in a statement at the time.
