Jennifer Aniston in tears as Friends co-star receives top Hollywood honour
She’ll be there for you … Jennifer Aniston was spotted getting emotional at a Hollywood event as her Friends co-star received exciting news.
It’s the friendship that keeps on giving.
Jennifer Aniston was spotted getting emotional in the front row as her Friends co-star Courteney Cox received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Aniston, 54, who got her big break alongside Cox, 58, on the beloved ‘90s sitcom, attended the ceremony on Hollywood boulevard on Tuesday, where she was seen in tears as her longtime friend accepted the honour.
Fellow Friends alum Lisa Kudrow, 59, was also present for the moment, with the trio taking to the podium to make a speech.
Aniston is also the godmother of Cox’s 18-year-old daughter Coco Arquette, who was also in attendance.
Speaking onstage, Aniston said she was “honoured” to witness the exciting achievement.
“To be friends with Courteney is to be family with Courteney. She is responsible for all of that. From the beginning of when we met her, she was immediately inclusive, warm, loving, interested in everything about you,” Aniston said.
“You’re one of the funniest human beings on the planet earth. Nothing makes me happier than a Courteney joke. And thank you for enriching our lives with your work. We are so proud of you.”
The cast of Friends, particularly the three leading ladies, have held onto their bond in the years since the show wrapped in 2004, with their nostalgic reunions often making headlines.
The original cast, including Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer, reunited for an emotionally-driven reboot special in 2021, where the iconic set was replicated as the “big six” reflected on their favourite moments.
Among the many highlights to emerge from the televised special, which streams locally on Binge, was Schwimmer’s revelation he and Aniston were in love off-screen – something that had only ever been gossiped about in tabloids up until that point.
“The first season, I had a major crush on Jen,” Schwimmer said, to which Aniston responded: “It was reciprocated.”
“At some point we were both crushing hard on each other, but it was like two ships passing because one of us was always in a relationship and we never crossed that boundary, we respected that,” Scwhimmer added.

Aniston continued: “I remember saying to you (Schwimmer), ‘It’s going to be such a bummer if the first time we kiss is on national television …’ And sure enough, we did.”
Reiterating that they never explored their connection off-screen, she added: “We just channelled all of our love and adoration for each other into Ross and Rachel.”
The pair were, of course, in love on-screen as on-again, off-again couple Ross Geller and Rachel Green, and remain one of the most iconic fictional couples in history.
