Jamie Spears accuses Britney Spears’ mother of ‘exploiting’ their daughter’s pain
Britney Spears’ dad Jamie hits back at court documents filed by her mother Lynne, claiming that she “exploited” their daughter’s pain and trauma.
The battle between Britney Spears’ parents Jamie and Lynne Spears isn’t looking to slow down any time soon.
In a new court filing that was obtained by People, the law firm that represents Jamie – Holland & Knight – has asked to overrule Lynne’s objection to their firm’s fees.
They have stated that her claims hold “evidence bias”, while defending their actions related to “media matters”.
They also call Jamie, 68, a “fiercely loving” father.
“Despite having zero involvement in her daughter’s conservatorship until very recently, Lynne Spears is asserting claims as if she were a party directly involved in the litigation (which she is not),” the document reads.
Jamie’s lawyers also claim that Lynne, 65, isn’t “acting in the best interests” of Britney, and has “no knowledge” about the fees they have charged.

They continued: “Lynne Spears’ math of dividing the total fees by four (to calculate fees per issue) is ridiculous and belies her ignorance regarding the complex nature of the Conservatorship Estate, and the issues that needed to be addressed by H&K to properly defend Mr Spears from specious allegations that have threatened to tarnish his reputation as a loving, caring father who has nothing to hide, has been loyal and fiercely loving toward his daughter, sought to protect her, and manage her finances so that she can live her life the way she wants.”

Court documents filed last week by Lynne disagreed with Jamie’s four months’ fee of $1.1 million from his law firm.
The documents claimed the majority of the firm’s “unnecessary” work largely constituted a “national media tour” to help fight the media’s coverage that cast Jamie Spears in a negative light”.
She also requested that a portion of those costs – at least $287,000 related to their communication with the press – be “immediately repaid” to Britney’s estate.
Holland & Knight took a huge dig at Lynne in retaliation, calling her out for exploiting Britney in the past.
“While the Conservator and his counsel have been very cautious, limited, and thoughtful in dealing with the media (a far cry from any ‘national media tour’), Lynne Spears is the one who exploited her daughter’s pain and trauma for personal profit by publishing a book about the Conservatee,” referring to Lynne’s 2008 book Through the Storm.
These new documents come only one day before a new petition hearing in Britney’s case.
