Jamie Foxx breaks silence on ‘malicious’ sexual assault lawsuit
The Oscar winner released a statement in response to a sexual assault lawsuit in which a woman claimed he groped her against her will.
Jamie Foxx has broken his silence after a sexual assault lawsuit was filed against him.
A woman identified in the suit as ‘Jane Doe’ came forward earlier this week with allegations the Hollywood star groped her at the Catch NYC rooftop lounge in August 2015.
Through his lawyers, Foxx, 55, released a statement in response to the lawsuit, claiming the woman had tried to file the same lawsuit against the star three years ago but it was dismissed.
“The alleged incident never happened,” a spokesperson for Foxx said in a statement obtained by Parade.
“In 2020, this individual filed a nearly identical lawsuit in Brooklyn. That case was dismissed shortly thereafter. The claims are no more viable today than they were then.”
“We are confident they will be dismissed again. And once they are, Mr. Foxx intends to pursue a claim for malicious prosecution against this person and her attorneys for re-filing this frivolous action.”
In the lawsuit, the woman accused Foxx of touching her inappropriately when they partied at the New York City hotspot around 11pm.
The unnamed woman and one of her friends — who were seated one table away from Foxx — allegedly asked the actor for a photo, which she claims he agreed to.
She claims he was intoxicated and allegedly replied, “Sure, baby, anything for you.”
After taking a few photos, the woman alleges that Foxx told her she had a “supermodel body” and smelled “so good”.
She claims the actor then took her to the back area of the rooftop and allegedly started to touch her inappropriately by placing both hands on her waist and then moved them under her top to rub her breasts. She also alleged that Foxx slid his hands into her pants.
She said that several people witnessed the assault, including some security guards, but they walked right past. It wasn’t until her friend approached them that the alleged assault stopped.
The woman is suing Foxx and the restaurant for compensatory and punitive damages, claiming she had to undergo medical treatment and suffered emotional distress as a result of the “sexual assault, abuse, assault and battery.”
