Inside a glam Christmas party that turned into more than festive cheer for Sophie Monk

When Sophie Monk attended the ModelCo beauty Christmas party she had no idea the celebrations would turn into the biggest surprise of her life.

Inside surprise party for Sophie Monk

A glamorous Christmas party with an animal print and fake tan theme, turned into a surprise for Sophie Monk, who turns the big 4-0 this week.

CEO of the successful beauty brand ModelCo, Shelley Sullivan, always hosts an annual

festive and thank you event for her team. And never one to do things by halves, this year the generous host laid down metres of pink carpet at her Vaucluse home, served up lashings of rose Moët champagne in pink goblets, as well as top-of-the-line Ruinart bubbles.

But this party went a major step beyond being a night of festive cheer.

Sophie, who is the face of MCoBeauty – the inexpensive and hugely successful baby sister tan brand ModelCo – received a huge shock as a birthday cake (complete with cake lip glosses and a handbag) was walked out by two waiters from The Caters Sydney before the crowd sang and wished her a huge and surprise “hip, hip hooray”.

After her genuine shock, Sophie was quickly joined by a Madonna impersonator who belted out Like A Prayer and Holiday as both Sullivan and Monk hit the pink-carpeted stairs and stage.

The Vaucluse mansion in Sydney’s eastern suburbs was like a pink paradise – pink being the company’s signature hue – before another performer, burlesque dancer LouLou slithered around the specially built stage that was designed by Sullivan’s creative collaborator Al Weekes.

Not content with just popping on someone’s Spotify list – like most of us do – next guest was artist and DJ Daimon Downey, who is still recovering from smashing his ankle after jumping off a subwoofer as he got a VIP party started few weeks ago.

Daimon arrived in a pink-painted wheelchair and continued to amp up the volume until the neighbourhood bewitching sound time of 11pm.

The huge Sydney house, with gun-barrel views to Sydney Harbour was adorned with hundreds of Pink Floyd Roses, with a hot pink jungle set taking days to install.

Sophie was at the party with her boyfriend of well over a year, photographer Joshua Gross, who she net on a plane coming back from shooting Love Island and whose Instagram feed is littered with loved-up pics of the pair.

Sophie has previously said she hopes Joshua pops the marriage question sooner than later.

For her surprise night, Joshua opted for a white shirt and black pants. And not a spray tan in sight with the pair spending the weekend in Terrigal with Joshua’s family, posting some very funny attempts at perfecting the family Christmas photo.
