Jack Vidgen has checked himself into rehab for the fourth time after revealing he has relapsed in his ongoing battle with addiction.

The singer, who has been in and out of treatment for the last four years, opened up about his most recent relapse in a candid Instagram post, telling his followers that he had been on a “five week long relapse” before he admitted to himself that he needed professional help.

“As I write this I’m so terrified of judgement,” Vidgen, 27, wrote from his hospital bed at an undisclosed treatment facility, where he voluntarily checked himself into this past Monday.

“I’m terrified of what people will think, what they’ll say or whisper to each other if I pass them by on the street. I’ve been so scared, for years, of this thing that lives inside me which is my addiction.

“I just wanted to let you in a bit and let you know, I’m not OK. For years I’ve heard the saying ‘It’s OK not to be OK’ and never really known what the f**k that means. I feel like I’m somewhat understanding it now.

“I’ve been in a five week long relapse where I haven’t been able to come up for air. My addiction has been the biggest struggle of my life and I wouldn’t wish it upon my worst enemy.”

In his honest post, Vidgen – who rose to fame aged just 14 on Australia’s Got Talent in 2011 – explained that he doesn’t know what “triggered” his relapse this time, but suffering the loss of two loved ones took a toll on him personally.

“I can’t quite put my finger on the pulse of what triggered my relapse this time,” he wrote.

“I had almost four months of complete sobriety up (which is a lot for me, the most I’ve had is six months over the last four years).

“I think it was just a snowball effect. I had a close friend of 13 years pass away, my uncle got sick and ended up passing away as well, I had a whole bunch of other stresses happening and I just don’t think I reached out for support as much as I needed to. Or even realised that I needed the support that I needed.”

Vidgen admitted he was worried what his latest rehab stint would do to this career, but it was time to prioritise his health.

“I’m sure there’s going to be fall out from it in terms of working the brands, gigs, and other career related things. To be completely honest, that’s why I haven’t made this kind of a post sooner,” he explained.

“Anyway, I’m past the point of that stuff mattering to me more than my mental health and being honest about where I’m at.”

The singer went on to thank his family and friends for their never-ending love and support, saying he wouldn’t be here today without them.

“I just want to say thank you to the angels in my life who have kept me alive and have been there for me,” he concluded.

“My incredible mum, family, friends and the amazing therapists and medical teams over my now four admissions into rehabs over the last four years.

“If you’re struggling with something similar, please know you’re not alone. Also, I just ask for some grace in this time.”
