Victoria Beckham ‘furious’ at David for releasing CCTV of raid on family home

VICTORIA had no idea her husband was going to release footage of an attempted robbery on their home just hours after he said marriage was “hard” in an interview.

David Beckham says marriage to Victoria is 'hard work'

VICTORIA Beckham was furious with David for releasing CCTV of a raid on their house in a bid to deflect attention from their marriage woes.

She had no idea her husband was going to publish the footage showing details of the couple’s family home, sources close to them told The Sun.

Police investigating the raid also didn’t know Becks was going to give the tape to a news website.

The ex-footballer took the extraordinary step just hours after a bombshell TV interview — in which he said marriage to Victoria was “hard” — was broadcast on Ten’s The Sunday Project.

Afterwards she was pictured in tears amid briefings from David’s advisers that she was upset at the raid.

But last night a source close to the couple said: “She was upset by the comments he had made publicly. The raid is a totally separate issue.

“She was already on a flight to Australia by the time the burglary footage was released — giving it to the media was totally out of her hands.

“It was meant to have an impact on the way the incident appeared — and deflected from the reality of why she was so upset. It has just added to the tensions between them.”

There is mystery over when the raid — thought to be by an organised gang — took place.

Initial reports suggested cops were called to the Beckhams’ $A10 million mansion in Great Tew, around 30km north of Oxford, last Friday by their 24-hour security team.

But Thames Valley Police confirmed yesterday that they had been alerted 24 hours later, at 8pm on Saturday.

They said: “There were reports of a burglary in progress. On attendance, no one was found, there wasn’t any damage caused and there was also no evidence of entry being made to the building.”

On Sunday morning, Posh and Becks arrived in Sydney — hours before his prerecorded interview was broadcast on Channel 10.

On Sunday Project he gave an extraordinary insight into his 19-year marriage to fashion designer Victoria, 44, describing it as “hard work” and “complicated”.

But his most devastating comments had been teased by the channel 48 hours earlier and prompted tears from Posh.

The Sun revealed she visited a stress management clinic in Germany as a result.

A pal said at the weekend: “When Victoria was given the heads-up on Wednesday about David’s interview, she was absolutely devastated.

“She has no idea why he would say such insensitive things and embarrass her like this in public.

“As you can imagine, it was as if a nuclear bomb had gone off in the Beckham household when she found out. To say it’s not been the best of weeks is an understatement.”

The full interview sparked further shockwaves when it aired. Former Spice Girl Victoria was pictured looking glum, with son Cruz putting an arm around her shoulders, as the family headed out in Sydney.

The Beckhams had been invited to Australia by Prince Harry, who wanted them to appear with him at this week’s Invictus Games for injured service personnel. Speaking to The Sunday Project’s host Lisa Wilkinson, the former soccer star said: “Marriage is always about hard work. Your children, they want your time and they deserve your time.

“We are hardworking and we feel like that is the right way to bring up our children, to prove and to show to them that you have to work really hard to be successful.

“We’ve been married for a long time now.”

David, who is launching a football team in Miami, also addressed why he was missing from last month’s car-crash Vogue cover shoot with Victoria and their four children, Brooklyn, 19, Romeo, 16, Cruz, 13, and Harper, 7.

He said: “We recently did a Vogue front cover which was all about Victoria’s 10 years in fashion.

“The amount she’s achieved in a short space of time with four beautiful children, you know, we have a beautiful dog. Obviously, in her business world, to be on the front cover of Vogue was a huge thing and then we did a separate picture for another cover. But to have been married for the amount of time that we have, you know, it’s always hard work.

“Everybody knows that but you make it work, you make difficult situations, you know, like travelling away, being away from each other, you make it work.”

Awkwardly, it has since emerged he gave the revealing chat to promote life-insurance company AIA.

He signed a deal with the Asian company last year to act as its global ambassador.
