‘They need me to be with a man’: Cassandra lets loose in Instagram rant

Cassandra Thorburn has angrily hit back at claims she needs to move on from her ex-husband Karl Stefanovic and “put on some lipstick”.

Is Cassandra Thorburn a bitter ex?

Cassandra Thorburn has furiously hit back at claims she needs to move on from her broken relationship with Karl Stefanovic, accusing the media of treating her unfairly because she is still single.

After sharing two photos on Instagram slamming Daily Mail Australia for interviewing her 19-year-old son Jackson, Thorburn had a heated response to those who commented on the post suggesting she needed to move on.

Responding to one person who told her to “get a life” and “put on some lipstick”, Thorburn wrote back: “omg put on some lipstick? You’ve only moved on if you attract a man … is that it?!?”

“Sorry I define it by writing a children’s book and trying to re-establish a career, moving on and being happy in myself,” she wrote.

“Silly me should have just put on lipstick. If only is known that’s what society wanted from me just because I got divorced.”

Thorburn had similar words for someone who wrote that she “cannot turn back time” and should be grateful she was financially stable after her split from Stefanovic.

“I have no desire to turn back time. I have moved on. I believe the issue may be that just because I haven’t jumped into the arms of a man society/click bait media decide that means I haven’t moved on,” Thorburn fired back.

“With a friend I studied, wrote and self published a children’s book and I’m working on re establishing a career path. I believe that’s moving on and I can’t help they don’t choose to write about that. We are all well … and happy. ALL of us!”

Thorburn and Stefanovic split in mid 2016 after 21 years of marriage, with the Today host meeting Yarbrough just five months afterwards.

The couple wed in an extravagant three-day affair involving nearly 200 guests last weekend.

Thorburn’s latest outburst on Instagram comes after she told New Idea that Jackson Ava and River didn’t actually attend the wedding, despite being in Cabo with their father and his new bride at the time.

“They have to spend this two weeks with their father. Their father designed it to have his wedding on this day … They were told they never had to go. My 19-year-old has assured me they did not attend,” Thorburn explained, before hinting that her eldest child had only been there to support his siblings, who were still bound by court-ordered custody arrangements.

“They (had) to go (to Mexico) and my eldest son went to protect them because at the commitment ceremony they tried to force my children, remember.”

Thorburn’s claims were backed up by Jackson, who told Daily Mail Australia he and his siblings didn’t attend the wedding ceremony, describing the event as “s**t”.

During her wide-ranging tirade, Thorburn also criticised the new Mrs Stefanovic’s wedding day styling arrangements, telling New Idea that “she paid for five makeup artists from LA. Five.”

When questioned on how she knew, Thorburn alluded to the fact that she still had access to her ex-husband’s financial information, despite their divorce being finalised last year.

“I know, because I get the bills, sweetheart,” she told the reporter. “I still have to pay half the bills, don’t I?”

Last week, off the back of a weekend of headlines generated by her high-profile ex’s lavish wedding, Thorburn went on an explosive tirade, branding Stefanovic a “fake” with “a lot to hide”.

New Idea claimed the interview was conducted between a reporter and Thorburn as she arrived at Sydney Airport, but Thorburn later denied on Studio 10 that it had ever taken place.

The Daily Telegraph has since reported that it “verified irrefutably” that Thorburn did indeed make the remarks, while sitting down at an airport coffee shop with a journalist named Jonathan Marshall.
