Shakira has announced a big move following her split from Gerard Pique
Shakira’s break-up has been very public and messy and the singer has revealed the surprising big change she’s just made.
Singer Shakira has announced that she’s leaving Barcelona and heading to Miami amid her messy and public break-up with the father of her two children.
In June 2022, Shakira, 46, famously split from retired soccer player Gerard Pique, 36, and now the singer has announced that she’s relocating far away from her famous ex.
In a lengthy Instagram post, Shakira explained that she was leaving Spain and heading to America to embrace a fresh start.
“I settled in Barcelona to give my children a stability, the same we are now looking for in another corner of the world next to family, friends and the sea.”
The acclaimed singer also hinted at her break-up and added: “Thank you to everyone who surfed alongside me so many waves there in Barcelona, the city where I learned that friendship is certainly longer than love.
“Thank you to everyone who has been there to cheer me up, dried my tears, inspired me and made me grow.
“Thanks to my Spanish audience, who have always covered me with their love and loyalty.”
However, the singer did suggest that she wouldn’t be gone forever.
“A my father said so many times, see you around the curves,” she wrote.
Shakira’s had a difficult time since her break-up with Pique.
Pique has started dating a 23-year-old student Clara Chia and revealed that his “very happy,” and done a lengthy interview about having no regrets since the demise of their relationship.
“I keep doing what I want. The day I die, I will look back and hope I have always done what I wanted. I want to be faithful to myself. I’m not going to spend money cleaning up my image,” Pique told Spanish publication El Pais.
Meanwhile, Shakira’s still single and recently dropped a revealing banger, Shakira Bzrp Music Sessions 53, with the lyrics: “You left me your mother as my neighbour, media outlets at my door and in debt with the government.
“You thought you hurt me, but you made me stronger. Women don’t cry anymore, and they cash in.”
She also seemed to take a dig at her Pique’s new relationship.
“I’m worth two 22-year-olds. You swapped a Ferrari for a [Renault] Twingo/You swapped a Rolex for a Casio.”
After the song went viral, Shakira allegedly turned a witch doll on her balcony and positioned it facing in the direction of Pique’s mother’s house.
