Sacha Baron Cohen’s unexpected move after Isla Fisher split
Two months on from his split with Isla Fisher, a picture of the Borat star in London has emerged featuring a very interesting detail.
Sacha Baron Cohen appears to be wearing his wedding ring again after announcing his split from wife Isla Fisher in April.
The 52-year-old actor was spotted without the band on his left hand just last week.
The Ali G and Borat legend was seen with the unique piece of jewellery on Monday, for the first time since the pair announced their split after 14 years of marriage.
Baron Cohen, 52, took a stroll in North London and looked in good form dressed in a navy jumper and a flat cap amid the troubles in his personal life.
Baron Cohen and Fisher got engaged in 2004 and married in 2010. They share three children.
Fisher has been seen without her wedding ring on this year, and enjoyed a girls’ night in London shortly after they went public with their break-up.
She headed to Mexico earlier this month to celebrate the wedding of her friends Naomi Watts and Morning Wars actor Billy Crudup.
Announcing their split in April, Fisher and Baron Cohen, who moved to Australia in lockdown after living in LA, were pictured in all-white tennis gear as they penned a statement saying “we forever share in our devotion and love for our children”.
The Sun revealed Fisher first approached a divorce lawyer back in 2022.
In June 2022, The Sun contacted representatives for Fisher and Baron Cohen regarding this, but they denied it.
Baron Cohen, who grew up in Hammersmith, rose to fame in the 1990s with his Ali G character, the infamous spoof wannabe gangster.
He also received rave reviews for his character Borat, a journalist from Kazakhstan, and played the role of flamboyant Austrian fashionista Bruno.
In March, Baron Cohen became embroiled in a dispute with Australian actress Rebel Wilson ahead of the release of her memoir, Rebel Rising.
She likened one actor to a “fourth-grade bully” after working with Sacha on his movie Grimsby.
His lawyers said evidence showed her allegations had “no basis in reality” and were part of a “cynical commercial ploy to promote her book”.
United front
Earlier this year, Fisher was seen on US television discussing her marriage to Baron Cohen.
In the awkward interview from February, the actress spoke to Kelly Clarkson on her chat show about her Valentine’s Day plans.
As she chatted about Baron Cohen, the Australian star seemed smitten with her husband, despite the fact by this point they had already split up.
Host Kelly asked Isla if she had any Valentine’s Day traditions, to which she replied: “Every year Sacha does give me a card that [says] ‘happy Valentine’s from …’ and then there’s a massive question mark, as if anybody else would … as if I have any other Valentines.”
