Russell Crowe clears up big rumour about his love life
The actor has swooped in to give fans the truth after media reports claimed there had been a big development in his personal life.
Russell Crowe has cleared up recent media reports declaring he and girlfriend Britney Theriot had eloped in Rome – and the actor has confirmed that no, they are not married.
And 2Day FM’s Hughesy, Ed & Erin breakfast show got the scoop this morning, with presenter Erin Molan personally texting Crowe during the show to congratulate him on his marriage.
It appeared Crowe hadn’t heard his own happy news – because Molan reported that his initial reply was simply a question mark.

“Hughesy just told me you married Brit?” she replied. “Let me guess, he’s read something and believed it?”
“This is horrific for me and my ongoing relationship with Russell,” Hughes quipped, accusing his colleague of throwing him under the bus.
Crowe then wrote back: “Yeah, good guess. We are not married.”
The false report first emerged in this week’s New Idea, which declared that “Romantic Rusty” had “eloped in Rome”.
“Insiders suspect love-struck Russell has taken the next step with his partner of two years and married her in Italy!” the tabloid mag proclaimed – which was then breathlessly reported by the Daily Mail yesterday.
Hughes joked he couldn’t believe the story was false, given it started in New Idea.
“New Idea got something wrong? Maybe Russell’s lying – New Idea don’t get something wrong,” said Molan.
“They’re going to have to go back to all those service stations, grab all those magazines, and pulp them – surely,” said Hughes.
So no wedding bells yet, but Crowe’s relationship with US actor-turned-real estate agent Theriot appears to be going from strength to strength.
Crowe, 58, made his red carpet debut with Theriot, 39, at the premiere of his latest moviePoker Face in Rome last month. The usually private pair first sparked romance rumours when they were seen kissing in November 2020.
Crowe was previously married to Australian actress and singer Danielle Spencer from 2003 to 2012. The former couple share two sons together: Charles, 18, and Tennyson, 16.
