Redfoo looks for his own X Factor on hook-up world of Tinder
X FACTOR star Redfoo has joined the controversial hook-up world of Tinder but says it is a social game not a serious spot for romance.
X FACTOR star Redfoo has joined the controversial hook-up world of Tinder.
“We all Tinder in life. We all look at somebody and go: ‘OK, swipe right’,” Foo said, alluding to how the online app “accepts” a potential date or lover.
“It’s like a social game, it’s not even serious,” he said. “If you’re on Tinder and you’re really trying to look for love, that’s going too far. You have to be yourself ... and find love at the coffee shop, or in your own community.”
Foo, born Stefan Gordy, and who split with tennis ace girlfriend Victoria Azarenka earlier this year, is not shy about being on the matchmaking app.
“People see Redfoo (on Tinder) and they say: ‘Why are you here?’ It’s like Instagram or Snapchat. It’s another way to talk to people online.”
But Foo admits it’s fascinating to see people right-swiping him.
He laughed: “Nothing is more exciting than getting a match. I don’t care who you are! It’s fun. And there is nothing better for curing boredom than Tinder.”
He was onced lured to a fake account of “one girl with a tennis racquet” but it was click bait for a nightclub.
Meanwhile, Foo is back in the X Factor hotspot with his team, Rochelle Pitt, 41, Jason Heerah, 31, and Reigan Derry, 25.
Derry’s powerful vocals and stagecraft have already cemented her as an early favourite.
But Foo dismissed praise for Derry, especially from rival coaches Ronan Keating, Dannii Minogue and Natalie Bassingthwaighte, as mind games.
“I’ve played a lot of chess on the streets,” Foo said.
“You never know what’s real. When they compliment you, your guard comes down then, all of a sudden, checkmate.”
