Pete Evans announces his engagement to Kiwi model Nicola Robinson
PETE Evans has popped the question to Kiwi model Nicola Robinson despite saying they’d never really thought about marriage.
MY KITCHEN Rules judge Pete Evans has announced his engagement to Kiwi model Nicola Robinson.
Evans, 40, said he popped the question to his 37-year-old girlfriend during a “beautiful moment” in New York.
“There we were in New York”, Robinson, a model and reality star from New Zealand told New Idea, “talking away and I said: ‘Gosh if we ever get married, taking our loved ones on holiday would be a wonderful way to do it.
“Of course I began to cry tears of happiness when he replied; ‘Right, let’s do it, let’s get married’ ... We both felt overwhelmed with love.”
Added Evans: “We’d never really thought about marriage — it wasn’t top of our agenda — but we love each other and we’re committed to each other and our family, so we thought let’s be traditional and make it official. It seemed like the right thing to do at the right time”.
The pair, who met in Adelaide three years ago, plan to marry early next year after launching their new online health and fitness program, The Paleo Way.
As the proposal was so impromptu there was no engagement ring, but the pair plan to buy a beautiful pounamu (greenstone) ring when they are next in New Zealand.
Robinson is step mum to Evans’ two daughters from a previous relationship, Chilli, 9, and Indii, 7.
But the pair say there may be some new additions to the family too.
“We would definitely love to be blessed with more children in our lives one day,” said Robinson.
“If it happens, wonderful. If not, I’m very lucky to be sharing Chilli and Indii’s lives.”
