Liam Hemsworth is officially done with his marriage to Miley Cyrus, filing for divorce in a Los Angeles court.

The Australian actor, 29, hired celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser to handle his side of the proceedings, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason he and Cyrus split.

“Liam is just done with it. There is no turning back and he knows he wants to move on,” a source told E! News.

“They have not had a lot of communication. There is nothing to say.”

E! reported that the pair had a prenuptual agreement and have kept their earnings separate, and that Hemsworth is not asking for spousal support.

“There is not a lot to divide other than the animals,” a source said.

“They both have houses that were purchased individually before the marriage.”

The pair announced on August 10 that they had split after seven months of marriage.

The next day, Cyrus was photographed kissing The Hills: New Beginnings reality star Kaitlynn Carter, who had recently broken up with her “husband”, Brody Jenner.

Speculation mounted that Cyrus and Hemsworth were on a break and perhaps would not divorce immediately.

Of course, now that Hemsworth has filed for divorce, a reconciliation is highly unlikely.

Last week, jaws dropped when Cyrus released a song Slide Away last week clearly about Hemsworth.

The bitter lyrics included: “Move on, we’re not 17. I’m not who I used to be. You say that everything changed. You’re right, we’re grown now.”

Hemsworth and Cyrus first in June 2009 when they co-starred in The Last Song, and became engaged in June 2012. By September 2013, they split for the first time.

Then, in January 2016, Cyrus confirmed that she was back together with Hemsworth and that they were engaged again. In December 2018, the couple were married at Cyrus’ home in Tennessee.

The divorce papers filed by Hemsworth do not state the date of separation with the paperwork simply saying “TBD” or “To Be Determined”.

The couple had a prenup and there is no request for spousal support so the divorce should be finalised quickly.

Sources close to Cyrus had told TMZ that she tried “valiantly” to save the marriage but couldn’t accept Hemsworth “drinking a lot” and “using certain drugs”.

However, sources close to Hemsworth told the site that those comments were an attempt to distract from her infidelity.
